Legence companies CMTA, Inc. and RE Tech Advisors are sharing how Hart County Schools’ Memorial Elementary secured federal financing for a state-of-the-art geothermal ground source heat pump system, resulting in a 66% reduction in energy use. As part of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Better Buildings Initiative, Hart County Schools became the first district in Kentucky to secure $793,078.71 through federal clean energy tax credits for the geothermal system, with an expected $6.7 million in savings and 18,000 metric tons emissions reduction over 20 years. RE Tech Advisors worked closely with CMTA to develop a case study highlighting the innovative financing model that made the project possible. Black Bear Energy Inc., a Legence company, played a key role in facilitating D.C.’s largest rooftop community solar project—a 6.1 MW solar array spanning 700,000 square feet that will generate over 7 million kWh of clean energy?annually. This milestone project expands access to clean energy while lowering costs and reducing carbon emissions.
