Legacy of Hope Health and Wellness Center - Dallas

In the 1950's in Dallas, Texas, rarely was a black person admitted to a local hospital. Additionally, Black physicians were also not allowed access to work in the local medical facilities and hospitals. A few visionary physicians primarily located in the southern sector of Dallas pooled together their resources with the sole mission of serving their own community. Among these courageous and faithful individuals was Dr. Edward James Mason. Dr. Mason managed to build, open and operate, a black hospital in South Dallas on the then, Forest Avenue. He is still remembered today, by many, as a kind, compassionate and loving man. Dr. Mason's legacy of the first black hospital in the South Dallas, still stands at 2516 MLK Blvd. Building on Dr. Mason’s vestige, a new set of medical professionals are eager to begin restoring health and wellness services within the same walls. The Legacy of Hope Health and Wellness Center is the vision of Dr. Michelle Morgan, a local practicing dentist whose life work is fully dedicated to offering premiere dental care and education throughout her native Dallas. Dr. Morgan’s vision leads a partnership of medical investors, real estate developers and private investors. The 18,000 square foot state of the art facility is scheduled to open Fall 2018 and will house a dental practice, dental & medical assistant school, urgent care facility and private medical suites.
