As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Legacy Community Health is proud to recognize the vital contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities while addressing ongoing health disparities. In Texas, where Hispanics make up 40% of the population, barriers to healthcare access remain a challenge, especially in the areas of HIV prevention and treatment. National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day, observed on October 15, highlights the need for education and resources to combat HIV in Latinx communities, which account for over a third of new HIV cases. At Legacy, we are committed to promoting health equity by offering free, confidential HIV testing, prevention methods like PrEP, and antiretroviral therapy (ART) to help manage the virus. Through culturally sensitive, bilingual services, and community-focused initiatives like AmistadesHTX, we aim to reduce stigma and improve access to care.
