Next, Scott Voigts, CTO of Rady Children's Hospital, discussed transformative healthcare technologies, showcasing the powerful intersection of technology and healthcare. Chief Magda Fernandez of the San Diego Harbor Police Department delivered a compelling presentation on maritime security, highlighting innovation in public safety. Dinesh Wadhwani, CEO of ThinkLite Air, presented pioneering air quality solutions in the Tech Innovation session, emphasizing technology's role in public health. The IT Security & Compliance session included a panel of experts: Shobha Mallarapu, Jaja O'Neil, and Andrew Young. They discussed the evolving landscape of cyber threats and strategies to address them. Chief Roxana Kennedy of the Chula Vista Police Department provided a captivating perspective on law enforcement's role in crisis management. She emphasized the importance of community engagement and shared innovative policing strategies transforming her department's approach to crises. The real estate sector made a surprising but impactful appearance with Diego Palomera Jr., CEO of SFG Home Loans, and David Cardenas, Co-Founder of Realty One Pacific. They drew fascinating parallels between real estate risk management and broader crisis management practices, offering a fresh viewpoint on proactive management. Dr. Akshay Pottathil, returned to discuss the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on healthcare. His presentation illustrated how AI technologies are revolutionizing patient care and medical research, promising a future where healthcare is more responsive and effective. Sally Gutierrez, recently retired from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, enlightened the audience on water management. Her talk highlighted innovative solutions ensuring water security and sustainability, a crucial issue as climate change challenges traditional water resources. The healthcare industry panel featured Grant Siders (CEO, Helia Care), Chris J. Stewart (VP, MDM, HealthTrust), and John Romer (CRO, Helia Care). We were especially honored to have Congressman Scott Peters present a congressional proclamation recognizing our 10th anniversary, and Joel Anderson declare June 12th, 2024, as “Intelligence Research Institute Day.” On the first of our three-day conference, we had the privilege of hearing opening remarks from Akshay Pottathil, Ph.D., our esteemed Conference Chair, who set the stage for the day's discussions. We were also honored by the keynote presentation of Srikar Reddy Koppula, Consul General of India in San Francisco, who provided invaluable insights into global security dynamics. summer stephan, the San Diego County District Attorney, delivered a compelling highlight presentation on innovative legal strategies in combating security threats. Stacey Moy, Special Agent in Charge at FBI San Diego, shared critical perspectives on federal law enforcement's role in proactive security measures. Michael W. Davis, Patrol in Charge at U.S. CBP, Campo, brought a wealth of knowledge on border security and customs enforcement, while Angelica Joaquin and Ivette Jorge, Specialists at U.S. CBP, discussed strategic approaches to safeguarding intellectual property and supporting small businesses. We also explored real-time solutions for security challenges with Laurie Sayles, CEO of Civility Management Solutions, Jerome Joaquin, Vice President of IRI, and Darryl Griffen, Chief Patrol Agent (Ret.) at U.S. CBP. Catherine Garcia, Instructor at California Peace Officer Standardized Training (POST), addressed violence and human trafficking, providing a critical training perspective. Demi D’Cruz, CEO of SmartCorpIQ (Singapore), and Craig Cartwright, CEO of Sentinel Nexus (USA), discussed the complexities of international trade in the context of global security. Closing remarks by Bruce Churchill, Board Member of IRI, encapsulated the day's discussions, reinforcing our commitment to proactive security strategies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
