Our water systems are not designed to fight major wildfires, plain and simple. While most systems can see minor improvements through optimization it will require unique and extreme regional commitments to build new and wildfire specific infrastructure, if even feasible, to stand up against these events. I'm curious to have this conversation so please chime in! https://lnkd.in/gimtE7FH
It is heartbreaking to witness the losses from the recent California wildfires. Thankfully, many lives have been spared. The scrutiny on our water systems highlights a critical issue: much like our automotive highways, most pipelines and infrastructure are not designed to withstand extreme events. Designing for such events is challenging due to their unpredictable nature, bringing new and complex challenges. I look forward to learning more about the lessons learned and how communities can become more resilient against wildfires.
