With a commitment to redefining community and building stronger families, The LeBron James Family Foundation invests its time, resources and passion into creating generational change for kids and families through a focus on education and co-curricular educational initiatives. With its foundational I PROMISE Program, LJFF serves more than 1,600 students and their entire families by providing them with the fundamental resources, wraparound supports and family programming they need for success in school and beyond. In 2018, the Foundation built all of its family-first programming and academic interventions into the groundbreaking I PROMISE School that has created a new model for urban, public education. The Foundation has layered in additional resources including higher education and family supports at the I PROMISE Institute, transitional housing at the I PROMISE Village, long-term affordable housing at I PROMISE Housing, job training and financial health programming at House Three Thirty, and soon, primary health care services at I PROMISE HealthQuarters. These life-changing resources, combined with the Foundation’s “We Are Family” philosophy, are re-defining what a family and community looks like.

Inside the lecture hall for Professor?Erynn Beaton’s?Public Affairs Class sat the next generation’s?activists and philanthropists, alongside 5 of LeBron’s high school I Promise students who were eager to hear what it takes to create real and lasting change.??? What started as a conversation about advocacy turned into a powerful lesson on leadership, passion, and using your platform for good. ‘It starts with you. You are the future.’???

Our 7th graders had a one-of-a-kind experience exploring future career paths with The University of Akron — all without leaving their own backyard!???? From pitching innovative business ideas to uncovering Akron’s rich Black history and experimenting with the fascinating world of polymer science, our students got a hands-on look at the endless possibilities that await them. Getting on a college campus helps to spark curiosity, build confidence, and show them that if they keep striving for greatness, their dreams are closer than they think.?#WeAreFamily ??

On their day off from school, our 9th-12th?grade students got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look learning about career paths in the healthcare industry thanks to Cleveland Clinic Akron General! Our I Promise Scholars got to engage with different departments, ask questions, and dive into the diverse career opportunities in healthcare. From retirement plans to tuition assistance programs, they also learned about the amazing benefits of working in this field! This immersive experience is all about exposing students to what life after high school could look like and helping them chart a course for success. We’re so proud to continue empowering our future leaders!???
