ACA stability was a major focus at #HMACon2024 in Chicago. Stability and future success of the ACA marketplaces depend a lot on the decisions of the 119th Congress regarding the extension of subsidies. If reduced or cancelled, it could impact what has become a robust segment of the health insurance market. As we near the end of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, we want to remind you about an excellent tool created by the AIMES Alliance that helps connect fourth-year medical students with graduate medical education (GME) programs. This tool is the first time that anyone has publicly released a comprehensive list of GME programs that offer rotations or longitudinal experiences in Tribal medical facilities. To learn more, go to aimesalliance.org. #TribalHealth

Following the 2024 election, incoming federal officials have begun to lay the groundwork for significant changes in the federal policy landscape and agency operations. In 2025, Republicans will control the executive branch and both chambers of Congress, a trifecta of power that affords more opportunity for advancing their federal healthcare agenda over the next two years. Experts from HMA, Wakely Consulting Group, and Leavitt Partners collaborated to host three timely webinar conversations examining critical issues from various parts of the healthcare sector. In celebration of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, the AIMES Alliance is excited to announce the launching of a new tool positioned at connecting fourth-year medical students with graduate medical education (GME) programs at groups like IHS, Tribal, and urban Indian medical facilities. GME residents and fellows in Tribal medical groups create an ecosystem of sustainable high-quality care locally, reducing the need for travel, long waits, and paying for high-cost locum tenens positions. Leavitt Partners, an HMA Company, and the Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC) released a report titled “Coding, Coverage, and Payment to Improve Inclusive Health.” The report reflects coding analysis, research, and 22 expert interviews conducted to better understand barriers clinicians face in meeting the needs of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) and improvements needed to facilitate holistic, person-centered, inclusive care. The report was resourced by Special Olympics, which has promoted the concept of Inclusive Health, including principles to ensure people with I/DD have access to, and can fully participate in, their own health care decisions. Key solutions to improve care include: - Cover additional services needed to achieve care models consistent with principles of Inclusive Health. - Provide sufficient payments that account for the significant costs and the flexibility needed to implement Inclusive Health-driven care models. - Reduce administrative burdens for clinicians and staff who serve individuals with I/DD. - Increase training of clinicians and staff to enhance the workforce who can execute Inclusive Health-driven care models and increase education of payers to support provider and practice innovation. Download the report here and learn more about the development of options to improve care delivery for people with I/DD: https://bit.ly/3Cfpkhj #InclusiveHealth #Inclusion #Disability #PersonCenteredCare Health Management Associates

We congratulate Amy Comstock Rick as she moves on to an incredible new role at FDA. We know she will make a real impact on improving lives for rare disease families.
Former White House, HHS, U.S. Senate, U.S. House @ Leavitt Partners | Health Policy Wonk | Advocate | Rare Dad
?? As a rare disease dad and policy wonk, I could not be more thrilled to see my former colleague Leavitt Partners, Amy Comstock Rick, formally announced as the new Director of Strategic Coalitions?in the #RareDisease Innovation Hub at FDA. ?? Amy is a gem of a person who brings a wealth of experience, expertise, passion, and leadership in FDA and the rare disease communities to her work. FDA and the rare community are fortunate to have her in this role. ?? The Hub is creative new approach from FDA: a cross-center program that will act as the single point of engagement and connection with stakeholders for product development and as a forum for CBER and CDER to collaborate on cross-cutting rare disease-related issues. ?? FDA has noted they "plan to foster a community at the FDA for open dialogue and knowledge sharing to identify new approaches to drug and biologic development and overcome hurdles that have traditionally impeded progress for rare disease treatments." I can't wait to see what new opportunities will be discovered and developed through Amy's leadership in FDA and the rare disease community.
