Did you know that reading is not natural to the human brain? We didn't evolve to be readers. There are no Reading parts, math parts, or even writing parts. So why can we do these things? And why is it easy for some kids and hard for others? Hint: It's not intelligence It's because, for some kids, the fundamental building blocks of reading, math, and writing were formed through their play. Some types of play are great at building these building blocks of learning. For example: Old school children's activities such as nursery rhymes, storytelling, and even physical games such as hopscotch and cats cradle are instrumental in forming these building blocks of learning. Rhyming creates phonemic awareness. Storytelling builds visual memory (Needed for comprehension). As well as a whole host of auditory skills. Hopscotch builds proprioception and spatial awareness. Both of which are at the core of all learning. We don't notice this happening, but little brains use these activities to build themselves. Sadly, children don't get as many of these activities as they used to, and that often leads to struggles in school. Which is why we created the Brain Bloom System.
