An impressive study by Community College Research Center at Teachers College, Columbia University highlights that Dual Enrollment (DE) students want to know about DE offerings earlier and they want to receive support from counselors in their progression toward college with more pathways which align with career interests. Our work and research at LCI support these findings – DE surveys and focus groups with our Partners highlight that students want to know about college prep options like DE earlier and that students want more adult advising to guide their postsecindary planning. At LCI we support Collaboratives to equitably expand DE access and success for historically minoritized stidents. Through this work, we have seen that the impact that DE has is more than just earning college credits. Our Theory of Change highlights that DE students grow in their socio-emotional learning skills, which helps support long-term secondary and postsecondary success. Just released! The LCI Dual Enrollment Theory of Change shows how dual enrollment strategies can reduce inequalities in postsecondary outcomes for underrepresented students, so that all students can benefit from the power of postsecondary education to fulfill their highest potential. We build more equitable education systems for students by supporting institutions and community organizations to effectively collaborate, use data and implement proven and effective equity and social justice strategies.
