Celebrating 20 Years - Our First Thriver & A $2 Bill ?? On March 1, 2005—20 years ago today—Lean Tech founder Scott Sorheim walked into Ralph Zimmerman’s office, Co-President of LeClaire Manufacturing Co., for a friendly chat while on-site implementing Thrive with their team. During the conversation, Ralph opened his desk drawer and handed Scott a two-dollar bill—a symbolic, thoughtful gesture representing his payment for Thrive. This made LeClaire Manufacturing our first paying customer, and that $2 bill became the first earned income in our then two-year-old company. A little backstory: For two years during the Lean Tech start-up phase, Scott worked three days a week at LeClaire Manufacturing, leading technology and lean initiatives while dedicating the rest of his week to building Thrive.? Once Thrive was ready to launch, LeClaire Manufacturing agreed to be our inaugural “test site.” Although LeClaire received a complimentary Thrive license as our pilot site, Ralph’s gesture with the $2 bill showed his genuine belief in us—he wanted to be the first to pay for Thrive. Two decades later, we’re still grateful to Ralph and the entire LeClaire team for taking a chance on us. Their trust helped shape Thrive’s success, and we’re proud to continue partnering with them today.
