Today, in a joint partnership with McKinsey & Company, we released the 10th edition of the Women in the Workplace report, shedding light on the progress we’ve made and how much we still have to achieve. Over the past decade, the number of women in senior leadership has steadily increased, and these women are reshaping the workplace and inspiring a new generation. However, the gains we’ve seen throughout the corporate pipeline are fragile and challenging to maintain. At the current rate of progress, we are almost 50 years from parity for all women in corporate America. And what’s really concerning is that there company commitment to diversity is declining, while employee commitment has remained relatively low. To learn more about how the state of corporate America has evolved over the past years for women and the road to parity, check out the report at https://bit.ly/3B40Oit #WomenInTheWorkplace10

It’s funny how the greatest support shows up when you least expect it. Have you ever had that one coworker who felt totally different from you — maybe they’re from a different age group or have a totally different background — but somehow they turn out to be your greatest ally and support system at work? We love how Elphaba and Glinda in #WickedMovie lift each other up —despite their differences. If you're looking for a support system, look no further. The donation over the next five years will help grow competitive opportunities for girls and professional development for women players, as well as women in coaching and referee roles. "Michele Kang's gift will transform soccer for women and girls in the United States," U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone said in a statement. "It will impact generations of women and girls in our game." Read more about the historic donation here: https://reut.rs/3Ok2iIV

Today marks Equal Pay Day for Native American women. On average, they earn 48% less than their white male counterparts. This wage disparity results in a staggering loss of over $1,202,200 throughout a 40-year career. The income lost because of this gap could cover nearly 11 months of child care, nine months of groceries, and seven months of housing expenses. To learn more about the pay gap, visit: LeanIn.Org/EqualPay.

There is this belief that each successive generation will become more egalitarian and enjoy more opportunities than the last. However, in an op-ed for Harvard Business Review, sociologists Marianne Cooper and Lean In’s very own Priya Fielding-Singh discovered the opposite is true when it comes to the movement toward gender equality. They found almost no improvements across generations. In fact, not only are the experiences of women under 30 similar to those of women 50 and older — in some ways, they’re worse. Younger women get stuck in entry-level positions. Compared to men, they’re far less likely to get their first promotion to manager. Sexual harassment is a persistent problem. Despite younger women’s much shorter tenures, a third of them have experienced some form of sexual harassment over the course of their careers — the same as older women. Younger women do a disproportionate amount of housework and childcare. Younger women with partners report that they’re doing the same amount of housework and childcare as older women. Younger women face ageism. Almost half of younger women say their age has negatively impacted their careers — that’s more than any other age group. And younger women are nearly 2x as likely as younger men to report unwanted attention being drawn to their age.

Monday reminder: #Girlpower tells girls they can do and be anything. It’s an important message, but it overlooks the ugly truth that the world is still stacked against them. To equip girls to lead, we have to get real with them about what stands in their way. Click the link in bio to sign your girl up for two of our most popular sessions, Lean Into Your Leadership Strengths and Challenge Stereotypes. During these free 1-hour sessions, girls will explore the ways they might already be leading, identify their unique strengths, and learn to recognize and push back on limiting stereotypes. https://bit.ly/3zYTuod

Like many others this fall, we've been rewatching #GilmoreGirls and falling in love with the community at #StarsHollow. This show highlights just how important it is to have a community in your corner—supporters who help you through your losses and cheer on your wins. With Lean In Circles, you can experience this kind of support, too.? ? Start a Lean In Circle to go further, faster, and help other women do the same: https://bit.ly/48R4mkU
