An initiative of the Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation, LeanIn.Org works to help women achieve their ambitions and create a more equal world. LeanIn.Org offers inspiration and support through an online community, free education materials, and Lean In Circles, small groups of peers who meet regularly to learn and grow together. The Lean In community includes more than two million women and men and 43,000 Lean In Circles in 172 countries. The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation, which also runs OptionB.Org, and the Dave Goldberg Scholars Program, is a private operating nonprofit organization under IRS section 501(c)(3).

    Today, in a joint partnership with McKinsey & Company, we released the 10th edition of the Women in the Workplace report, shedding light on the progress we’ve made and how much we still have to achieve. Over the past decade, the number of women in senior leadership has steadily increased, and these women are reshaping the workplace and inspiring a new generation. However, the gains we’ve seen throughout the corporate pipeline are fragile and challenging to maintain. At the current rate of progress, we are almost 50 years from parity for all women in corporate America. And what’s really concerning is that there company commitment to diversity is declining, while employee commitment has remained relatively low.     Our 10th anniversary #WomenInTheWorkplace report found that today, women make up 29% of C-suite positions, compared to just 17% in 2015. In an interview with Fortune’s Broadsheet, our co-founder and CEO Rachel Thomas shared that hitting 30% would mark a “tipping point” where women typically stop feeling the adverse effects of being the “only” in a room. While there is still more work to do to reach parity, these numbers make us hopeful for the future.     Research shows Latina girls experience more frequent harassment and microaggressions in the classroom relating to their gender compared to white girls. This ranges from jokes, demeaning names, teasing about appearance, and/or unwanted physical contact. This kind of bias continues into adulthood when Latina girls grow up to be women in the workplace. ? ? As adults, Latina Onlys in the workplace encounter more microaggressions: 74% have experienced microaggressions at work compared to 58% of women overall. In particular, Latina Onlys are more than 2x as likely to have a coworker express surprise at their language skills or overhear negative comments about their culture. ? ? These experiences take a mental toll on Latinas' well-being, lowering their sense of belonging in school and at work. This #HispanicHeritageMonth and beyond, continue to educate yourself on the experiences of Latina girls and women so you can learn how to be an ally.? ?     Women hold far more power across corporate America than ever before: 29% of the C-suite is composed of women today, up from 17% in 2015. Regardless of seniority at work, women continue to do more housework than their partners. Senior-level women with partners are over 4x more likely than men in the same situation to do more housework: 35% say that they take on most or all of the household responsibilities, compared to just 8% of men.
