This upcoming storm cycle is the perfect opportunity for you to try out being a Citizen Scientist! While you enjoy Tahoe – whether it's raining, snowing, or the sun is shining – report what you see in Tahoe's environment using the surveys on the Citizen Science Tahoe website. This week, be sure to use the "Mountain Rain or Snow" survey while the weather is switching back and forth between drops and flakes. Visit CitizenScienceTahoe.org. No downloads required. When you share your observations with #CitizenScienceTahoe, you're helping scientists better understand the forces at work in the environment, which can help us #KeepTahoeBlue!

???? Meet Gavin Feiger, the League's Policy Director. (Hi, Gavin!) He works to ensure that development in the Lake Tahoe Basin is sustainable and lake-friendly! With more than a decade of experience in transportation, land use, policy, environmental science, and advocacy, Gavin collaborates with developers, local agencies, permitting authorities, and decision-makers to shape projects for a healthy environment and Tahoe community.?? In Gavin's own words: "My passion for the environment stems from my upbringing in Montana, where I developed my love for outdoor recreation and experienced the need for environmental conservation. Seeing where I grew up and other places I love sprawl and develop unsustainably has made me value how planning and the planning process greatly affects a community, environment, and economy." Gavin is dedicated to creating a future where development and transportation coexists with the natural beauty and health of the Lake. Thank you, Gavin! ????

The only thing that should be left on the snow are tracks. Protect Tahoe during the winter by picking up after yourself and others. Be sure all your wrappers, tags, bottle caps, and any other potential litter make it into a trash can or come home with you. That's how we can all #KeepTahoeBlue.

Tahoe Development with Accountability ?? Alterra Mountain Company’s plan to massively develop the Village at Palisades Tahoe would have serious pollution implications for Lake Tahoe: more traffic, more tailpipe emissions, more runoff into Tahoe’s blue waters. Yet Alterra’s project doesn’t take responsibility for those impacts, or have a plan to mitigate them. Tahoe deserves better. We are not opposed to a modernization and expansion of Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley – in particular, something that addresses the serious need to build more workforce housing for the region. All we ask is that Alterra take responsibility for the impacts of their project. Development and environmental conservation are not mutually exclusive. ??
