How much $$$ I recommend investing to get started with video: As little as possible to make as much as possible. Rather than thinking about the cost of gear and editing, focus on the cost of time spent creating the content. Investing in a system that helps you easily record consistently great video is a system worth investing in. For some, it may be an iPhone and a lav mic. For others, a desktop studio setup. Whatever allows you to make a lot of content in a short amount of time is the path I’d recommend taking.

Here's a simple strategy for always coming up with fresh content ideas: Record ALL your sales calls. You'll find gold in those discussions that will help you hone in on what your buyers want to hear. So rather than shooting in the dark, you'll cover topics people actually care about.

Some people can effortlessly nail a video recording every time, but that takes a lot of practice. A quick hack to record your videos faster for social media is to pause between your sentences. State a short sentence, pause, think of your next line, then go. All my videos are unscripted. A lot of the time, I don’t even know exactly what I’m going to cover until I sit down to record. But I know I’ve got some backup support when the video gets to post-production. So remember to pause!

I landed my biggest client from a video that only got 8 likes and 500 impressions. Pretty mediocre analytics, right? But this client was ready to buy. They had already seen a lot of my content but NEVER engaged. Not even a like. So keep posting those videos. Your ICPs are watching...

Creating impactful videos is less about what you say and more about how you say it. You gotta look through the lens of the viewers to see how your videos are being perceived. If you can boil down products that seem super complicated on the surface into a 30-second video that your mom can understand, you'll start seeing a greater ROI on your effort. You don't have to say everything all at once. Keep it high-level; you can get into the weeds on a sales call. Pro tips for leveling up your video for Zoom calls that you haven’t heard before: Make your audio not suck: 1?? Expensive mics won’t save you. Audio is only as good as the room you are in. - Hang curtains, canvas paintings, and put down a rug. - It’ll reduce sound reflections (echo) and make your audio clearer. 2?? Hang loose ??- make that sign with you hand, from your pinky to your thumb is the distance your mic should be from your mouth. - This avoids distortion, breathing noise, and popping sounds when you pronounce words with a “p”. 3?? Gain Stage (set the gain) - your mic levels should be hitting between -6 to -12db. If you meter is colored, if it’s peaking at yellow, you’re safe. If it starts hitting red, your mic is too “hot”. Think of an overexposed photo. Once it’s blown out, good luck cleaning it up. Turn that puppy down. 4?? Turn off the fluff - In Zoom, You can increase audio quality to: - 48kHz by going to Settings > Audio > Music and Professional Audio. - Toggle on 'Show in-meeting option to enable Original Sound', then checking the box beside 'High-fidelity music mode. - This turns off all the stuff that reduces your mic quality 5?? Headphones only. If you’re that one in the meeting that has their speakers feeding back into their laptop mic, causing that distraction: - Get some headphones! (side note) Never record marketing videos in Zoom. It ain’t built for it. Get yourself a platform that lets you record natively. Zoom loves to destroy your quality by sending it to a server to keep the connection reliable. But the end result is bad audio (and video). #videotips #zoom #salescall #proaudio
