Now, we arrive at our final destination! ?? So, what does it mean to truly “arrive”?? Much like the train pulling into its final station, “arriving” is a moment of accomplishment…but it’s not necessarily the end of the track. The train may proceed on to maintenance for cleaning and inspections. Maybe it moves over to an adjacent track to prep for its next trip. The list of possibilities can go on and on. Here are three key insights to help define what “arrival” might look like in your winning season: 1?? Celebrate the Wins (big and small) Success isn’t just about crossing the finish line. Take time to reflect on the big and small victories along the way. Recognize those moments and celebrate them. 2?? Reflect on the Lessons Learned Every journey has detours, unexpected delays, and course corrections. If things didn’t go exactly as planned, ask yourself: What did I learn? Your Winning Season: Setting The Foundation Last month, I scheduled a trip to visit our nation’s capital and decided to travel by train vs. air or car. Aside from ventures on the high-speed rails in Europe during previous business travels, it had been years since I last rode the rails here in the U.S. Yes, flying would have been faster, but I chose the train for a few reasons: ?? overall travel-related costs ?? freedom to move around, at will ?? opportunity to take in the journey itself As I watched the scenery change between North Carolina and Washington, DC, I found myself reflecting on how much a train journey mirrors the process of creating success. It’s not just about the destination -- it’s about being intentional with your choices, staying on track, and moving forward toward your goals. That intentionality starts with setting the foundation, or "laying the rails". Without the tracks in place, even the most powerful train can’t move forward. Whether you’re leading organizations, running a small business, or developing your personal brand, creating a clear vision for where you want to go and how you might get there is a good starting point. ?? Will 2025 Be Your Winning Season? ?? It’s one week into 2025, and as I’ve done for many years, I’ve started mapping out my year—my intended roadmap. The start of a new year is my time to pause and reflect on last year’s journey: ? What did I set out to accomplish? ? Did I hit the mark? ? Did I exceed my goals? Where did I veer off course, and what lessons came from those detours? 2024 brought a mix of great achievements and unexpected challenges that tested my resilience and sharpened my focus. Every experience—especially the ones that left bumps and bruises—has fueled my vision for the year ahead. And let me tell you, I am EXCITED about the journey ahead! There are a few great things that I love about December: ?? My birthday ?? Christmas ?? My birthday ? New Year’s Eve …and did I mention, my birthday?? ?? On a serious note, December is often a time for reflection—acknowledging the things we’ve accomplished (Great job!) and, just as importantly, the things that didn’t go as planned (Great job on those, too—failures are lessons in disguise!). But what if December isn’t just about reflecting on the “things”? What if it’s also about reflecting on who we’ve become over the past 12 months? ?? What if 2024 was meant to be your year of discovery? ?? This year, through my work with leaders and my own journey as an entrepreneur, I’ve gained insights about leadership and personal growth.
