A national service organization for Americans of all backgrounds to serve and lead in places they call home.

关于我们

Lead For America is a national service organization for Americans of all backgrounds to serve and lead in the communities they call home. Since its founding in 2018, Lead For America has created more than 400 full-time public service Fellowships in 44 states. Lead For America has two flagship programs: the National Veterans Fellowship, and the American Connection Corps. Launching in the summer of 2024, the Lead For America Veterans Fellowship will support 50 Veterans each year in making the transition from the military into leadership positions back home. Each veteran will be provided a $100,000 stipend, spend the summer in Washington D.C. working with their Senator or Member of Congress, and then return to their home state, where they will work directly alongside the Governor, a Mayor, or a CEO for one year. Military veterans have already demonstrated their commitment to service, sacrifice, and personal courage. The Veterans Fellowship provides them an opportunity to bring that ethos of service to leadership positions in our communities across the nation. The American Connection Corps is the nation's premier AmeriCorps service program focused on advancing economic prosperity in rural and emerging communities. Through a one-year paid service placement with a local government agency or nonprofit, ACC helps exceptional people launch their careers and fulfill what's possible in the places where success is too often defined as “leaving and never coming back.” ACC alumni form a bench of local leaders who can bridge divides and spark needed change in the places they call home, ensuring that every corner of America has the great public servants it deserves.

LFA Alumni learned tips on time management for the March Skill Swap, led by our very own staff member, Sierra Bonn! Check out some of her key tips below. ? You can only manage what you measure. Track how you're spending your time and compare it to how you *want* to be spending your time. Then, adjust to create alignment! ?? The Eisenhower Matrix can be a great tool to help you determine what's worth your time. It breaks down tasks by urgency and importance, then determines how to handle each task. ?? Time management is not a shame game. It's an opportunity to learn, grow, and align with what matters most to you. Thank you for your insight, Sierra! Each month, Lead For America Alumni participate in a virtual “Skill Swap” for fellow alumni to share their talents, hobbies, and passions. We can't wait to learn about stargazing from LFA Alum Grant Lach next! Alumni, check your email for details on how to RSVP.

"When Josh Cole left Barbourville, KY, to go to college, he was determined to go back. It wasn’t something young people often did, Cole admits. “Like many other places in Appalachia, we’ve faced economic hardships. There is a lot of brain drain in the community.” Yet he had grown up admiring neighbors who showed up for others and organized mutual aid. He found his way back two years ago serving with the American Connection Corps, an AmeriCorps program aimed at “connecting people to places and possibilities in digitally disconnected communities across America.”" Read more in the full story published with Weave, the Social Fabric Project. https://lnkd.in/g6CaGdRX

Time is one of our most valuable resources—yet so many of us struggle to manage it effectively. During the Alumni Skill Swap for Lead For America Alumni, I had the opportunity to facilitate about Time Management, and it was an incredible conversation about how we measure, value, and optimize our time. We didn’t just talk about calendars and to-do lists—we dug deeper. How we spend our time is a direct reflection of our values. If our schedules don’t align with what truly matters to us, it’s time for a reset. ?? Key takeaways from the conversation: ??? Audit Your Time: Before making changes, track where your time actually goes. Awareness is the first step toward improvement. ?? Time vs. Values Alignment: Are you spending your time on things that truly matter to you? If not, what small shifts can help you realign? ?? The Eisenhower Matrix: Prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance can help cut through the noise. ? Batching & Time Blocking: Group similar tasks together and set aside focused time to work more efficiently. ? Boundaries & Saying No: Protecting your time is just as important as managing it. At the end of the day, effective time management isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most, with intention and efficiency. What’s one time management strategy that has made a difference in your life? Let’s keep the conversation going! ??? #TimeManagement #LeadForAmerica #AlumniSkillSwap #ProductivityTips

  • We rounded out February with nearly 50 Lead For America Alumni who convened for the Cohort Reunion. ?? The goal was simple: reconnect with one another, reminisce on their service, and reignite their connection and shared values. Based on these ear-to-ear grins, we'd say it was a success! Big thanks to LFA co-founder Maya Pace and inaugural cohort fellow Ayo Aladesanmi for sharing their honest insight and advice on the "Then and Now Panel", and to each alum who took the time to join the virtual event. Hometown 2022 walked away with the greatest percentage of their cohort in attendance and have won some exclusive LFA swag. Cheers to you, '22!?
