Class 54’s Collaborative Leadership Session included a tour of Grant’s House and lunch from The Outpost Catering, followed by an afternoon at Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette. Participants learned tools and strategies for convening volunteers and organizations to address community needs from facilitator Amber Fischvogt of CivicLab. The session concluded with nonprofit organizations joining us for an introduction to the Golden Volunteer Portal by Class 51 graduate, Rachel Cheeseman from United Way of Greater Lafayette. Thank you to our session sponsor Wabash Center and hosts Grant's House and Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette.

Class 54 participated in the Human Services session last week, getting a glimpse of the tough decisions and daily obstacles faced by many in our community. This immersive poverty simulation challenged participants to think critically about the impact of unanticipated hardships and how we can advocate for those in need. This experience wouldn't be possible without help from program alumni volunteers, City of West Lafayette AmeriCorps, simulation facilitators from United Way of Greater Lafayettee, our host YWCA Greater Lafayette, and our sponsors Purdue Federal Credit Union, Ivy Tech Foundation, Mental Health America - Wabash Valley Region. ??
