Thank you to the Port of Seattle and Samantha St. John for hosting Leadership Eastside for a behind-the-scenes tour of SEA Airport (note: no longer called SeaTac). A shout out to Eric Schinfeld who added a huge dose of humor to his very informative tour. We learned that the airport was built to host 33 million people a year and is currently serving 55 million, and SEA is the most landlocked airport in the world. A truly adaptive issue! Other fun facts: a second terminal is in the works and will have its own entrance/exit, parking and services; Concourse C is getting 4 stories of new restaurants and shopping; North America’s largest earthen retaining wall was built alongside the 3rd runway; airplanes always land into the wind, which means landing directions at SEA change; the Port mitigates noise by reducing flights on the 3rd runway during sleeping hours and has helped soundproof nearby homes and businesses; every extension ramp for de/boarding has power and air connections, significantly reducing plane emissions; and the Port is expecting an extra one million people for the FIFA World Cup in 2026. What an amazing day yesterday celebrating the great work of KidVantage yesterday! From start to finish the audience was invited into the many pieces that make supporting kids health and wellbeing work! From the puzzle theme to the repetition of "collecting for kids because every kid counts!" to the final pieces that formed a whole with the donor in the middle holding it all together. The theme and message was engaging and inviting and I walked out so dang proud of what our community makes possible! Thanks Puget Sound Energy & Rachel Benner for hosting me! A great way to end the week!

Leadership Eastside was honored to attend the Tulalip Tribes 2024 Raising Hands Celebration at the Tulalip Resort Casino this past weekend. Earlier this year, Tulalip Cares provided Leadership Eastside with a grant to host Gracious Space training for our facilitators and volunteers. This training helps ensure that our learning experience is consistent across all of our classes and facilitators. We were grateful to attend the Raising Hands Celebration, learn more about tribal customs, listen to beautiful music and see videos of other organizations doing amazing work to improve our community. Thank you The Tulalip Tribes, Tulalip Cares and the Tulalip Tribes Board of Directors for your amazing generosity to Leadership Eastside and nonprofit organizations across Washington.?
