???Leadership West Explores ASU West Valley Campus!??? Yesterday, Leadership West Class 31 had the privilege of touring?Arizona State University West Valley Campus, a hub of innovation shaping the future of our region. We began with a warm welcome from?Bobbi Magdaleno?and Todd Sandrin, who shared ASU West’s inspiring vision for interdisciplinary learning and community impact. Highlights included visiting the?Herberger Young Scholars Academy, where?DJ Graham?showcased opportunities for brilliant young minds, and exploring?Casa del Valle, a vibrant residential hall designed for student success. At the?Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering,?Shawn Jordan?shared groundbreaking STEAM initiatives, while?Dr. Ben Falandays?at the?ASU PALM Lab?demonstrated how VR and motion capture are revolutionizing research. We wrapped up with a group photo, grateful for the insights and connections gained. ?? Education Day Highlights with Leadership West Class 31 What an inspiring day of learning and collaboration! ??? Our leaders dove deep into the key differences in public, charter, and ESA education, focusing on the financial impacts and how these systems shape the educational landscape. From early childhood to workforce preparation, we explored how agencies like FIRST THINGS FIRST, Pendergast Elementary School District, AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, and Western Maricopa Education Center join forces to build a brighter future for our students. ?? Alumni Spotlight: Shelby Duplessis - Empowering the Next Generation! We’re proud to celebrate Leadership West alumna Shelby Duplessis, founder of Diversified Future and Passion to PowHer, two visionary ventures launched in 2023 that are creating waves in the community. As a trailblazer in consulting, real estate development, and youth empowerment, Shelby launched Passion to PowHer to support and inspire young women. On October 18th, Shelby’s nonprofit hosted its first Passion to PowHer Day at the Peoria Sports Complex—a free event dedicated to providing young women ages 13-22 with the tools to unlock their full potential. Over 200 participants engaged in workshops on mental wellness, fitness, and networking, with the backing of cities like Avondale and Peoria and sponsors across the community. Shelby exemplifies what it means to give back, leveraging her network of alumni and partners to make this event unforgettable. Her commitment to young women shows how our alumni community can unite to drive real change. Thank you, Shelby, for empowering the next generation to dream big and chase their goals.
