Last Thursday, Leadership SBM's Adult Signature Class and Youth Leadership Cohort 32 joined forces for an enriching day focused on Servant Leadership. Hosted by Goodwill, the Community Plunge allowed both adults and youth to delve into the realities faced by community members in poverty. The day was profound, filled with meaningful conversations, mutual learning, and a deeper understanding of community integration. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of empathy and awareness in servant leadership. We want to Thank Goodwill for putting on this experience. We had so much fun at the 525 Foundation’s Say Boo To Drugs event this past Thursday! What a great evening it was, and the candy was flowing! It was awesome to hear U93’s Big Perm during the event, we saw a lot of kids dancing their sugar out! It was so fun being booth neighbors with Allendale Treatment, we tag teamed on candy. Such a special evening in beautiful Howard Park South Bend to represent such a good cause. This day. These people are #changemakers. Class 51 came in with open minds and hearts to dig into the historical perspectives of our #diverse community, our #implicit biases, #equality #equity and #privileges. Then finished with a tour with Alex Hammel from #SB84 to witness the future of community innovation. We had the unique opportunity for Kevin Smith, tech entrepreneur, soon to be former owner of the Studebaker Renaissance District and South Bend Visionary, to join us as we overlooked the city. We discovered today even in our differences, we all have a story that brought us here, right now, to do good together. ??Recent Highlights from Leadership SBM?? We're thrilled to share that Signature Leadership kicked off Class 5??1?? at Oakwood Resort this past month! ?? The energy and motivation of this new class are truly inspiring! We are looking forward to Signature’s October program day in just 2 days!! The youth are already making strides, having completed their October Program Day, which included visits to Civil Rights Heritage Center, and The History Museum. They explored the rich history of our community, including stops at Copshaholm - The Oliver Mansion and the Studebaker National Museum. To wrap up the day, we enjoyed a lively open mic session at The Music Village, showcasing the incredible talent of our cohort 3??2??! We will begin greeting alumni and guests at 5:15 pm for tours of the new amazing El Campito Child Development Center! We will provide light appetizers and a cash refreshment bar. Please enter the doors of One Roof Southeast Neighborhood Center, located at 405 E. Dubail Ave., South Bend, IN 46613. Parking is available in the lot as well as street parking. Please do not park in the drive located directly in front of El Campito's entrance to allow for childcare pick up until 5:30 pm.
