In "From Stress to Strength: Collective Healing for Community Impact," we’ll dive into how the relentless demands of social justice can impact our physical and emotional health. Chronic stress can trap us in a cycle of heightened "fight-or-flight" mode, making us more easily triggered, raising blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and ultimately compromising our well-being. This workshop addresses the connection between stress and our capacity to lead effectively, reminding us that to make meaningful change, we must first transform our own health and resilience. Together, we will explore practical strategies to manage stress and restore balance. By incorporating mindfulness, meditation, a positive mental outlook, and other practices like hydration, exercise, movement, and prioritizing sleep, we can break free from this cycle. Participants will also learn the importance of nutrition and supplements in maintaining vitality. Through interactive discussion, we’ll empower each other to lead with clarity and strength, fostering a ripple effect of well-being that reaches both ourselves and our communities. Join us as we move from stress to strength, stepping into leadership with renewed health and purpose. #collectivehealing #healing #healingjourney #energyhealing #selflove #mindbodyspirit #love #healingvibrations #innerwork #collectiveconsciousness #selfcare #community?

Spaces still available! We’ll continue exploring “untangling” and “unknotting” ourselves and the systems of which we are a part, along with finding and maintaining our “seat”/centeredness. Sheryl will share examples of practices and approaches she uses in her work with organizations and groups and in life, including (potentially) breath, sound, somatic, physical movement practice, and the natural elements. We’ll engage in reflection and dialogue about participants’ experiences with the methods shared.?(Note that Part 2 will not be recorded.*) ? Thanksgiving is often celebrated with family, food, and gratitude, but beneath the surface lies a history of colonialism and misrepresentation that has been handed down through generations. As we gather this, it’s important to reflect on how we can decolonize the holiday and reconcile the traditions we were taught with the truth of American history. The Thanksgiving myth we’ve learned tells a story of peaceful cooperation between Pilgrims and Native Americans. The reality is far more complex and painful. The first Thanksgiving, held in 1621, was not a planned feast, but a series of interactions shaped by survival, diplomacy, and desperation. It was also far from the harvest celebration we’ve been taught to imagine. Instead, it was set against a backdrop of Indigenous peoples already suffering from the impacts of European colonization, violence, and disease. For centuries, the narrative of Thanksgiving has been centered on a sanitized version of history that ignores the trauma and displacement experienced by Native communities. The myth of "pilgrims and Indians" has obscured the vital role that Indigenous people played in shaping modern agriculture and food systems, including the crops and farming techniques that many of us enjoy today. The truth is that Native peoples were not passive participants in American history—they were and are active, resilient, and essential contributors to our society. To decolonize Thanksgiving, we must challenge the narrative that marginalizes Native voices and experiences. This includes recognizing that Thanksgiving is not a day of celebration for many Indigenous peoples, but instead a "Day of Mourning," acknowledging the deep injustices and suffering that have been inflicted upon them. By understanding this context, we can begin to rebuild a more inclusive tradition that honors the history and contributions of Native communities. This process also involves learning about and respecting Native cultures, acknowledging the agricultural knowledge they shared with settlers, and recognizing their lasting impact on the foods we consume today. The "three sisters" farming method—planting corn, beans, and squash together to enrich the soil—is just one example of how Indigenous agricultural innovations have shaped modern farming practices. . Decolonizing Thanksgiving is not about rejecting the holiday altogether, but about shifting our focus to celebrate values of generosity, community, and gratitude through a more informed lens. It's about fostering empathy, challenging stereotypes, and amplifying Indigenous voices. As we gather around the table this year, let’s reflect on how we can heal historical wounds, acknowledge the painful truths of the past, and work toward a more just future for all. Let this Thanksgiving be a starting point for the journey of understanding, reconciliation, and respect that Indigenous communities have long deserved. #DecolonizeThanksgiving #IndigenousHistory #SocialJustice #Reconciliation

?? Embracing Gratitude and Justice: A Thanksgiving Reflection through an Anti-Oppressive Lens ?? This Thanksgiving, we are called to reflect not only on the blessings we hold, but also on the history that shapes our present. In "Embracing Gratitude and Justice," they explore the intersection of gratitude and justice, urging us to approach this season with a deep awareness of the systemic inequalities that persist in our society. Thanksgiving should not just be about abundance, but also about recognizing and confronting the legacies of colonization, displacement, and exclusion that have historically marginalized Indigenous communities. This article invites us to shift our perspective—to not only celebrate, but to actively work toward a more just, inclusive, and equitable future. As we partake in traditions, let's ask ourselves: How can we cultivate a culture of gratitude that acknowledges the harms of the past and strives for restorative justice today? What actions can we take to support the communities who continue to face the consequences of these injustices? This Thanksgiving, let's center our commitment to equity, solidarity, and healing.
