How cool is it that these high school students get the experience of learning about career paths and our outstanding JeffCo industry opportunities through partners like Lockheed Martin Space ? The whole building was literally shaking during this replay launch simulation of the Artemis I - talk about multi-modal learning experiences! Youth Leadership JeffCo is able to provide these opportunities with the support of you, our local community, who understand that retaining our talent here in JeffCo helps us all thrive. We currently have opportunities for professionals to give back time to some of our Jeffco Public Schools through participating on a Capstone Project Panel (please direct message for more info and to sign up), and... How many high school students do you think get the chance to truly understand the career paths and experiences of professionals in careers they might want to go into? This week, Youth Leadership Jeffco had the pleasure of not only visiting and touring Lockheed Martin Space, but also to do group "informational interviews" with staff members! It seems that in today's world, students are often asked to make career choices by deciding on an educational path very early, often before they have a chance to truly understand these career paths! This is one of the many ways in which the Youth Leadership Jeffco program is helping to develop and retain our workforce in Jefferson County through connection and experiences. We offer these Youth Leaders the chance to connect with incredible local organizations, many of whom are offering internships and apprenticeship programs that students may have never found out about! And of course, an opportunity like this - to speak with professionals directly - was simply incredible. We wish you could have heard all the conversations happening - inspiration in the making! Miriam is the Director of Volunteers and Serve Spot Lakewood at Benefits in Action. She has a varied work history, from being a ring-tailed lemur keeper to working at a community garden. She is passionate about volunteering and community engagement. In her time off she enjoys gardening, hiking, and reading.

Debbie Trujillo Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies #LeadershipJeffco40 Congratulations to our newest member joining the 40th Leadership Jeffco class! Debbie is a Colorado native, who grew up in southern Colorado, and lives in Broomfield with her husband. She works in Lakewood at Terumo BCT. Debbie has bachelor's degrees in molecular and environmental biology from CU Boulder and a master's degree in Management from Regis University. Debbie has worked in regulated industries for most of her career - Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Tissue, Generic Pharmaceuticals, and Blood and cells technologies. She has always been active in the community that she lives and works in and find it very rewarding to volunteer and mentor others. In her role at TBCT, she is the Sr Manager of Global Medical Safety and Clinical Quality Assurance. Debbie manages a team of doctors, nurses, and scientists.

Lyndsey Tollis Molson Coors Beverage Company #LeadershipJeffco40 Please join us in congratulating the latest addition to the 40th Leadership Jeffco class! As a Navy Veteran with 9 years of experience as a Nuclear Electronics Technician, Lyndsey was responsible for maintaining and operating the reactor and its controls. After spending 2 years in civilian nuclear power, the plant announced shutdown, prompting a move to Colorado to be closer to family and friends. Lyndsey was fortunate to secure a Utilities Operator position at Coors, spending 5 years in Central Utilities before transitioning to an Asset Care Planner role in Lower Valley Utilities at the Water Treatment Plants. Lyndsey's efforts significantly improved water treatment processes, ensuring clean discharge into Clear Creek for the community. In January 2024, Lyndsey returned to Central Utilities as a People Leader, eager to enhance the department and serve in their new capacity.
