Last week we had our Leadership Delaware, Inc. sessions and focused on the education system and equity. I left those sessions feeling like I need a clone to help the many areas lacking the proper resources, strategy, and leadership development. But also felt encouraged by the leaders currently doing the work and advocating in those spaces. There is so much to be done, and we are just getting started on this leadership journey! Grateful for this experience with what has already become my extended family. To top it all off we played volleyball to raise awareness and funds for the work Easterseals is doing for those with disabilities and their families.

What an impactful two days with Leadership Delaware, Inc.! We were immersed in thought-provoking discussions about education and leadership at the historic Hockessin Colored School #107C, a site that played a vital role in the fight for educational equity. We wrapped up our time together playing volleyball to benefit Easterseals Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore. I'm incredibly grateful to be part of this journey with such passionate leaders!

It was wonderful to be a part of the Easterseals Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore annual volleyball challenge again this year! The Leadership Delaware, Inc. Class of 2025 showed off their skills on the court alongside many LDI alums. Congrats to Ken Sklenar, Pamelyn Manocchio, Bernice Whaley, Bob Fraser and everyone on the Easterseals Board and leadership team who helped to create another great event to help support the critical work of Easterseals!

48th is unacceptable. A funding formula for the education of our children being structured around convenience for adults is unacceptable. Following a formula written in 1942 is unacceptable. I’m proud of Britney Mumford and Kendall Massett for educating a room of influential leaders today, and for the absolutely essential work they do for Delaware’s kids EVERY day. These problems effect every one of us, and the future of many generations. Let’s all do a lot more to make a change in 2025! Thank you for letting us join you, Leadership Delaware, Inc. and Hockessin Colored School. Matthew Ford , Leah Brown MS RDN LDN , Betsy Renzo , Mike Eppehimer , Jaimie Watts

The past two days with Leadership Delaware, Inc. have been nothing short of inspiring! Surrounded by an incredible group of leaders, we engaged in powerful discussions about education, leadership, and impact—all within the historic walls of Hockessin Colored School #107C a site deeply rooted in the fight for educational equity. From dynamic speakers sharing invaluable insights to thought-provoking conversations about the future of education, these sessions reinforced the critical role of leadership in driving change. The legacy of this school—a cornerstone in the Brown v. Board of Education case—served as the perfect backdrop for our learning and reflection. Grateful to be part of this journey with such passionate and committed leaders. Looking forward to applying these lessons and continuing the work! #LeadershipDelaware #Education #HockessinColoredSchool #LeadershipInAction
