Economic Development Day Recap! On Thursday, Nov. 14, our Flagship 2025 class gathered at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park for an insightful and inspiring day sponsored by WesBanco and Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC). ?? Highlights included: ?? A warm welcome from Kirkland Murray (FLG10) of AAWDC and an economic development overview by Amy Gowan of Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation. ?? A powerful presentation on the Poverty Amidst Plenty Report by Pam Brown of the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families. ?? A visit to Fort Meade with insights from Colonel Yolanda D. Gore, Fort Meade’s first female garrison commander, and leadership from Tim O’Ferrall (FLG02) and Chad Jones (FLG14). ?? Lunch at the Yumi Hogan International Art Gallery at BWI, featuring remarks by Jake Womble (FLG18) of WesBanco, Ricky Smith (FLG95) CEO of the Maryland Aviation Administration and Senator Pam Beidle (FLG96). ?? A hard hat tour of the Southwest Terminal construction, led by Shawn Ames (FLG22). ?? A tour of Arundel Mills and Live! Casino with Kristen Pironis (FLG22) sharing their economic impact. ?? An exploration of the Chesapeake Arts Center as an economic engine with local leaders discussing revitalization and placemaking projects in North County. Last Thursday Wesley MacQuilliam reminded me that it was my 2-year work Anniversary ?? at Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC)!! Time flies when you are serving the business community and having fun ?? I’m truly grateful. I started the day off early with an inspiring The BWI Business Partnership, Inc. Signature Breakfast at The Westin Baltimore Washington Airport - BWI featuring a keynote from U.S. Army Garrison Fort George G. Meade’s Commander, COL Yolanda Gore where she reminded us of our responsibility to the people we serve as leaders, and reflected on her unique career path. (Chad Jones introduction was on point ?? IYKYK) The day ended by volunteering to support Leadership Anne Arundel’s Economic Development Day for 2025’s Flagship class at Chesapeake Arts Center alongside Peter De Angelo, Chad Robertson, & Bekki Leonard as participants heard from Councilwoman Allison Pickard, Meredith Chaiken of Greater Baybrook Alliance, Donna Anderson of CAC & Kayleigh De La Puente of AAEDC.
