if there’s anything we learn from LeaderMoms, it’s discerning what really matters. October 1st is always a day of reflection and introspection for me. Seven years ago today, the October 1st shooting impacted so many lives and changed the city of Las Vegas. I remember clearly the tragedy and grief that followed. The one person I think about all the time is Quinton Robbins, a 20-year-old UNLV student who was the second youngest of the victims. He was described as an athlete and an excellent student who loved his family and loved life. As the mother of a young son at the time, I connected with his story and the unimaginable grief his parents must have been feeling. Quinton’s family started the Quinton Robbins Play it Forward Foundation to support athletes and sports in schools and continue his legacy and love of sports. He would be 27 and friends speculate he would be working or volunteering in support of youth athletics. In the days after October 1st, I couldn’t get him out of mind and the life he wouldn’t live. It made me reflect on how I was spending my time and how that reflected on what I valued. I think of him often, especially this year, with my own 20-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter in college. We saw the best in people in the Las Vegas Community as we came together to support victims and survivors. However, the most impactful personal outcome from this tragedy was gratitude for the ability to decide how to do what matters to positively impact those around me. Rest in peace Quinton Robbins. ?? ?? https://lnkd.in/eDz6udPY #VegasStrong #October1 #NeverForget
