Helping you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

关于我们

The Leader Transition Institute prepares and walks beside people who are making pivots in their lives. Concurrently, we help small and large organizations maximize their abilities to communicate and lead, as well as improve their hiring process. We are a veteran-led 501(c)(3) organization supporting Federal and State Government customers in both CONUS and OCONUS locations. We provide training and coaching to help people - anyone, anywhere - who want to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. For service members, veterans, and military spouses, Changing Focus: Moving From We to Me - 24 hours of hands on, interactive training over four days - fills the gap left by the Department of Defense mandated Transition Assistance Program that focuses only on future employment and post-service benefits. Our corporate training division provides leadership, communications, and diversity and inclusion training to both small and large organizations. In nearly three years, we've helped 150 people in 23 states, four countries and three continents learn about who they are as a person - aside from their rank or position and what they've already done in their life, they've become better communicators, and created a vision for themselves of the purposeful life they want for their future. We've also helped them improve their resumes so they've gotten job interviews, and increased their salaries by tens of thousands of dollars. We're proud that our participants tell us that in addition to everything else they learn from us, one of the important things they learn is that they're not alone. They tell us they're grateful to become part of a tribe that gets them. We're a young organization, but focused and excited for the future.

Today is 3/14, a day to celebrate Pi (π) - the infinite number that keeps going and going. But let’s talk about another kind of pie: opportunity, success, and resources. Too often, we operate as if success is a fixed-size pie. If someone else gets a bigger slice, that must mean there’s less left for us. But what if that mindset is holding us back? What if, instead of fighting over limited portions, we focused on baking more pies - and even experimenting with new recipes? ?? Someone needs a new opportunity? Let’s make room at the table and invite them in. ?? A colleague has a fresh idea? Let’s help bring it to life instead of guarding our own. ?? Someone’s facing a challenge? Let’s share knowledge, connections, or support to help them move forward. The truth is, success isn’t one pie we all have to fight over. It’s something we can create, expand, and reinvent. There’s always room for more pies, new flavors, and different ingredients - and when we bake together, everyone benefits. So today, on Pi Day, let’s embrace an abundance mindset. There’s enough success, opportunity, and innovation to go around. And if there isn’t? As my friend and mentor John C. Maxwell says, "Let’s bake more pies!" What kind of pie are you sharing today? ?? #PiDay #leadership #personaldevelopment #leadershipdevelopment #military #veterans #militaryspouses #leadership #zigszagsandpivots

  • If we all waited until we felt ready, so many incredible things wouldn’t exist - including the Leader Transition Institute. Annie S. Brock Brock didn’t launch LTI because she had every answer or a perfect plan. She launched it scared. She stepped into the unknown with a vision to help people navigate life’s biggest transitions, especially for those leaving military service. Imagine if she had waited. If she had let fear win. But she didn’t - and because of that, LTI has impacted countless lives, helping people move from uncertainty to clarity, from hesitation to action. Ryan Leak’s ?????????????? ?????????????? reminds us: failure isn’t the worst outcome—inaction is. If you have a calling, a dream, a mission that keeps tugging at you, don’t wait until you feel ready. Take the step. Feel the fear. Do it scared. #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment #zigszagsandpivots

I wish I could tell you I never get nervous, that stepping into the unknown is easy, and that taking risks feels natural. But that’s not true. The truth is, I get scared. I doubt myself. I second-guess whether I have what it takes. But somewhere in my life, I learned something powerful: Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s taking action in spite of it. Ryan Leak captures this so well in ?????????????? ??????????????: ?????? ?????????????? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ???? ?????? ??????????????. He reminds us that failure isn’t something to avoid - it’s something to chase. Why? Because failure means you’re trying. It means you’re in the game. It means you’re stretching beyond what’s comfortable and pushing toward what’s possible. So often, we wait until we feel ready, thinking that confidence will magically appear before we take the first step. But the truth is, confidence is built through action. You don’t feel confident and then move. You move, and then confidence follows. Think about the big moments in your life - starting a new job, speaking in front of an audience, launching a project, stepping into a leadership role. Were you 100% ready? Probably not. But you showed up anyway. And that’s the difference between people who grow and those who stay stuck. Growth happens when we embrace discomfort and act despite fear. The people we admire, the ones who inspire us? They’re not fearless. They’re just willing to do it scared. So today, I’m asking you - what’s the thing you’ve been avoiding because it feels too big, too risky, too uncertain? What if you decided to take the step anyway? What if you embraced the fear, knowing that action is the only way forward? Because the worst thing isn’t failing. The worst thing is never trying at all. So, join Brunilda (Brunnie) Garcia, MBA, MSS and me tomorrow - Friday, March 7th, at 12:00 PM ET - and read and discuss the book with us over the next six weeks. It might be your first time through the book or your third or fourth. Perhaps this will be the time it spurs you to go after that thing you've always dreamed of doing. Let’s chase failure. Let’s take action. Let’s do it scared. • At LTI, we work with people in transition—service members leaving the military, professionals shifting careers, or leaders stepping into new roles. A common thread in all these transitions? Fear of failure. It’s understandable. When we take on something new, we want to get it right the first time. But here’s the truth: failure isn’t the enemy - it’s our greatest teacher. Somewhere along the way, we learned that failure means we aren’t good enough. That it’s a sign to stop, lower our expectations, or turn back. But failure isn’t the opposite of success. It’s part of the journey. Those who achieve great things don’t avoid failure. They embrace it, learn from it, and keep moving forward. Consider these people: Vera Wang didn’t enter fashion until she was 40. She failed to make the U.S. Olympic figure skating team and was passed over for Vogue’s editor-in-chief. Instead of stopping, she pivoted—and built an empire. Soichiro Honda started as a piston ring maker, but Toyota rejected his work. He moved on to high-speed milling machines, then scooters. Today, Honda is one of the world’s largest auto manufacturers. Sara Blakely, Spanx’s founder, failed at multiple sales jobs. Dozens of manufacturers rejected her before she launched her billion-dollar company. She credits her father for asking daily, “What did you fail at today?” because he knew failure meant she was trying. What do they have in common? They refused to let failure stop them. How to relish failure instead of fearing it: ?? Change how you see it. Failure isn’t a reflection of your worth - it’s feedback. Instead of seeing it as a dead-end, treat it as data. ?? Detach your ego. One decision or attempt didn’t work. That doesn’t mean you don’t work. ?? Reframe the story. Instead of saying, “I failed,” say, “I experimented and learned.” ?? Expect it and use it. Every great achievement is built on a foundation of failures. The sooner you recognize failure as necessary, the more you can use it to your advantage. ?? Ask: ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’ Fear of failure is often worse than the failure itself. Most “failures” are just setbacks - temporary unless you let them define you. At LTI, we work with people stepping into the unknown. One of the biggest lessons we teach? Failure isn’t the end—it’s the beginning of growth. The only real failure? Stopping before you reach the breakthrough. Whatever transition you’re facing, don’t run from failure. Relish it. Learn from it. Let it shape you into something even greater. #leadership #personaldevelopment #leadershipdevelopment #military #veterans #militaryspouses #leadership #zigszagsandpivots
