Hispanic Heritage Month Wrap-Up: A Celebration of Progress and a Call to Action As we close out Hispanic Heritage Month, we reflect on the incredible contributions, resilience, and power of Latinos across Colorado and beyond. This month has been a reminder of the rich heritage we share and the vibrant future we’re building. But while we celebrate, we know there is still much work ahead. Our communities continue to face challenges that call for stronger leadership, more resources, and greater opportunities for growth. At LCFC, we remain dedicated to uplifting Latino-led organizations, advocating for equity, and fostering the next generation of leaders. Let’s carry the momentum forward. Together, we can continue creating a future where our voices are heard, our work is recognized, and our impact is felt statewide. ?Adelante, siempre! The journey continues. ?? . . . ??

Strong leaders are the foundation of thriving communities. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the strength, resilience, and vision of our community’s leaders. At Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC), we’re committed to investing in them through initiatives like Adelante, Leadership Roundtables, and Executive Director retreats—programs designed to foster personal growth, build organizational capacity, and ensure long-term sustainability. We also recognize outstanding leaders in our community through our Emerging Leader Award, Philanthropist of the Year Award, and Soul of Leadership Award, celebrating those making a profound impact across the state. Know a leader in our community who inspires you? Shout them out in the comments for a chance to see them featured on our social media! When our leaders succeed, our communities rise together. ?? #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatinoLeadership #LCFC #CommunityImpact

This edition of LCFC's newsletter is packed with exciting updates and moments of reflection on our work this summer. We’re proud to highlight the completion of our inaugural Adelante Colorado cohort—a program empowering Latino-led nonprofits and strengthening their capacity for long-term, systemic change. Our heartfelt thanks to The Colorado Health Foundation for their support in driving this initiative forward! We also celebrated inspiring leaders at the Corazón Legacy Celebration, honoring Lydia M. Prado, PhD, Nelly Garcia Olmos, and Lisa Zuniga Ramirez, CFA, FSA for their contributions to the Latino community. Plus, get ready for an unforgettable event with Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and join us in welcoming our new team member, Iriana Corral, whose journey in community service is deeply rooted in her family's history in West Denver. "The day-to-day challenges of leading community-based organizations are complex and compounded by chronic philanthropic underinvestment in efforts led by and serving people of color. To bridge this gap, philanthropy must listen to and trust the needs and potential solutions identified by the people closest to the work..." Our Chief Impact Officer, Sonya Garcia Ulibarri is highlighted in this thoughtful piece about bridging resource gaps in philanthropy.
Latinos make up nearly 20% of the US population, yet Latino-led nonprofits receive only 1% of funding. We spoke with three philanthropic leaders in our network on how to bridge resources and need.
