Established in 1996, the Long Beach Community Foundation (LBCF) is a public charity that helps individuals, families, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses manage their charitable giving both today and as part of their long-term legacy. Led by Marcelle Epley, MBA, President & CEO, LBCF’s mission is to initiate positive change for Long Beach through charitable giving, stewardship, and strategic grantmaking. In 2021, LBCF reached $70 million in charitable funds managed. Some of these funds include: · Donor Advised Funds (sometimes referred to as a charitable checking account) · Funds designated for specific nonprofits agencies · Scholarship Funds · Legacy Funds Contributions into a fund may come in the form of: · Cash · Securities traded on major exchanges · Closely-held stock · Mutual fund shares · Retirement plan assets · Real estate LBCF partners with professional advisors to meet their client’s charitable goals. Types of professional advisors include: · Trust Attorneys · Tax Attorneys · Financial Advisors · Financial Planners · Estate Planners · Accountants Clients choosing to include charity in their estate plan may wonder, who will oversee the funds to ensure they are invested and distributed properly? As a National Standards accredited organization, it is LBCF’s priority to be a fiduciary and oversee objectives on a donor’s behalf now and in perpetuity. Ngai?Alumni Center on October 24th.??     Welcome to the Neighborhood! Marcelle Hope Epley, MBA, CSPG, LBCF's President & CEO joined Long Beach City College students, faculty and community members to celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Long Beach City College's Black Student Success Center. The Black Student Success Center celebrates Black culture and provides a supportive community for students, with important support services to advance students’ personal and academic progression while honoring their cultural identity. In addition to the opening of Black Student Success Center, the event kicks off Black Student Success Week at LBCC.     Today is a historical day for the Long Beach Community Foundation! LBCF staff and Board have worked for over a year to transition into the next growth phase of your community foundation effective January 1, 2024. Today we processed our new grant checks in-house preparing for updated systems that will enhance and improve how we support Long Beach through charitable giving. Our fund holders, professional advisors, grantees, and scholars will experience new platforms that advance our technology and position us for even stronger impact.
