We invite you to explore a compelling conversation between Harry Litman and Yossi Klein Halevi, a distinguished author and senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Yossi provides an in-depth analysis of the current situation in Israel, a nation under significant threat on multiple fronts and grappling with intense internal divisions. Despite these challenges, Israel's resilience shines through, as demonstrated by the recent targeted assassination in Tehran of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, leaving only Yahya Sinwar among the key figures responsible for the October 7 attacks. The debate over the Gaza conflict, balancing the annihilation of Hamas with the safe return of hostages, and responding to threats from Hezbollah and Iran, highlight the complexities Israel faces. As the nation grapples with critical questions about its future, Yossi reflects on what’s at stake for Israel's identity and survival. Last week, I had the unique opportunity to journey to Southern California with Andrew Wolfish to visit several of our fellow JCC's and participate in the IDEA Health & Fitness Association conference in LA. While the conference provided valuable insights into the future of the fitness industry, the true highlight was experiencing the warm hospitality extended by our gracious hosts Betzy Weinblatt-Lynch & Spencer Lynch at JCC San Diego and Scott Braswell & Edward Priesand at the Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County. The trip served several important reminders: -Community strength surpasses any individual product offering ?? -The JCCA movement is in great hands, making significant impacts across the continent ?? -The impact of peer connections cannot be overstated ?? -Fitness and movement are not mere extracurriculars, but fundamental commitments to a healthy lifestyle ??♂? #fitness #fitnessindustry #community #event #networking

As our County recognized Jewish Heritage Month, I had the honor of celebrating the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, a place where San Diegans of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs can come together to learn, grow, and celebrate. The JCC San Diego is more than just a place of learning. It is a center for health and wellness, and a vibrant community gathering space—a place where friendships are forged, connections are made, and memories are created. Whether it’s holiday celebrations, engaging in meaningful dialogue, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee with friends, the JCC is a cornerstone of community life. For San Diego County’s youngest residents, the JCC’s childcare services and youth programs teach the values of community, compassion, and curiosity. While their roots are in Jewish tradition, their doors are open to all because they believe that through our differences, we find our greatest strength. @
