Following her own guidance has led Correa to studying geophysics all over the world, from the Atlantic Ocean to Egypt, Australia, Utah, North Dakota, and more. She's dedicated her career to bringing Earth’s deep, invisible subsurface to light using seismic monitoring, which records movements and vibrations deep underground and can reveal geologic structures and activity. Her research can inform the development of this technology that could be a game-changer for accelerating geologic energy solutions, painting a picture of where these innovations can be implemented and how they might impact Earth’s surface. My teammate Derrick Rodrigues convinced me to post this on LinkedIn! I’m so happy and fortunate to work with such a great team for our Advanced Bioprocess Engineering Lab at Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts Process Development Unit (ABPDU)!! We’re learning so much about bioprocessing, including how to set up 300 L bioreactors, working with ambr250s, and now prepping and running an Alfa Laval disc stack centrifuge! The UC Berkeley Master of Bioprocess Engineering has changed my life for the better and I couldn’t be more grateful to have spent the last 7 months with my cohort! 2 more months to go and boy oh boy do I hope the time goes by slow! Starting from the upper left and moving left to right: Imajansen Tapaoan, Kenzo Khoo, Derrick Rodrigues, and Rodrigo Hernandez! Also, thank you to our wonderful professor Laura Fernandez who teaches us so well and makes us laugh in the process ????! This week, the NERSC Networking Group deployed a new storage interconnect! After years of careful planning and collaboration with other teams at NERSC, the team migrated our storage fabric from Infiniband to Ethernet, deploying a large-scale RoCE cluster—a change that will increase bandwidth by up to 8x, improve latency metrics, and offer more flexibility. In addition to this work, a number of aging network devices were replaced and/or retired, making room for future growth of the data center network and deploying advanced routing and switching capabilities. ?? ???? Testing changes to water treatment and reuse processes can be challenging, risky, and expensive. That's why NAWI-supported researchers are developing a digital twin—a visual representation of an operating system—of treatment technologies in the water reuse and water reclamation sector. These #DigitalTwins would allow researchers to test scenarios and changes in the virtual system with little to no risk or cost, making it easier to optimize and innovate water treatment processes that can help secure our nation's #freshwater supply.
