Thank you to everyone who joined us at this year’s sold-out Volunteer Management Conference! With over 60+ attendees and more than 30+ organizations represented; this year’s event was a tremendous success—nearly five times our turnout from last year! On Tuesday, October 22, L.A. Works’ Public Health AmeriCorps members had the privilege of meeting with AJ Pearlman, Director of Public Health AmeriCorps, and Dr. Aretha Costley, PHA Training Manager. The discussion focused on the critical role of public health and showcased the impactful work our members are contributing to in the community. The program’s ongoing support has been instrumental in advancing these efforts. We were also honored to have Amy Dailey, Regional Administrator for the West Region, in attendance. These conversations are crucial for ensuring our members feel recognized and valued, while also exploring opportunities for growth and collaboration in our shared mission to strengthen community health.

This past May I graduated from Smith College with a degree in Environmental Science and Policy. I ended my senior year serving as the president of the Multi-ethnic Interracial Smith College organization, the fundraising coordinator of the Fencing Team, and the specialties director of the WOZQ Radio Station, in addition to being on the Dean’s List. I am very grateful for every opportunity I had to learn and grow at Smith. I am happy to announce that I am starting a fellowship with L.A. Works this September. I will be working with L.A Works and the California Climate Action Corps to promote climate justice initiatives throughout Los Angeles’s underserved communities. I am excited to begin my post-graduate journey in the climate change field.
