We are pleased to announce that Laura Robson has been appointed as the Tournament Director of the new Women’s WTA 500 event at The Queen’s Club in London. The former British No.1 and Olympic Silver medallist will take the reins of the new event, which will bring women’s tour level tennis back to London for the first time in over 50 years, having previously been Tournament Director of the Rothesay Open Nottingham WTA 250/ATP Challenger Event.? ? Following Laura’s appointment, Amy Hitchinson has been chosen as the new Tournament Director at Nottingham, having undertaken the same role at the 2024 Rothesay Classic Birmingham, which means that over 70% of LTA grass court major events will have female tournament directors. ? “We’ve just scratched the surface.” ? Black Tennis Mentors UK co-founders Arum Akom and Jabilayh Asante discuss the deep-rooted meaning of Black History Month, the importance of reclaiming the narrative and how the past is crucial to understanding how to enact positive change in the future. Having already had great success in supporting black tennis leaders and creating opportunities for future leaders to develop, Black Tennis Mentors recently won the Sporting Equals LTA Tennis Foundation Community Tennis Award. And Arum and Jabilayh's work has only just begun as they plan to develop a more diverse system of players, coaches, officials and staff in the wider tennis workforce, through their own work and their membership of the newly established Black Tennis Collective.? ?
