The federal Bureau of Land Management has announced approval of the $4.2 Billion 350-mile GreenLink West transmission project intended to transport clean energy between Reno and Las Vegas. It also published its draft environmental impact statement for the 210-mile GreenLink North that will complete a continuous loop of high-energy transmission lines in the state. This summer, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington issued a Consent Decree approving the settlement of NRD claims arising from pollution of the Lower Duwamish River, an urban waterway near Seattle in Washington State. This was a joint action by federal trustees (NOAA and DOI), the State of Washington through its Department of Ecology, and two Tribal trustees (Suquamish Indian Tribe and Muckleshoot Indian Tribe).
