Record $33M settlement reached following Record $30M Winnebago County verdict for deaths of downstate retired couple survived by their only son. On October 30, 2023, a record $30M verdict was returned in favor of the plaintiff in this matter. Almost exactly a year later this settlement was reached after hearing on post-trial motions in the amount of $33M which includes nearly $5M in pre and post judgment interest and brings the total recovery in this case from all defendants to $34.65M, which surpasses any verdict or settlement ever obtained in Winnebago County, IL. Parente & Norem's attorneys on this case were Christopher Norem, Dennis Lynch, and Joseph Parente.
