The recent Executive Orders regarding Section 232 duties on steel and aluminum removed the various country-specific exemptions, quotas, and product exclusions that had been in place going back to 2018. As a result, the 25% Section 232 duties will apply to all countries, with Russian steel and aluminum (or derivatives produced from Russian steel or aluminum) having a duty rate of 200% https://lnkd.in/g5WfXmPt

Beginning March 12, 2025, imports of articles of steel and steel derivatives (Chapter 73), from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, EU countries, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and the UK, as well as articles of aluminum and aluminum derivatives (Chapter 76), from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Mexico, EU countries, and the UK, will be subject to a revised tariff rate of 25%. https://lnkd.in/g_gG2NWf

On Monday, February 10, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order to pause all investigations and enforcement actions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of Americans suspected or accused of bribing foreign government officials for 180 days. This Executive Order directs the Attorney General to review current FCPA enforcement guidelines and issue updated guidelines or policies to "...prioritize American interests, American economic competitiveness with respect to other nations, and the efficient use of Federal law enforcement resources". https://lnkd.in/gPk-2AgV

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Orders to add a 25% tariff duty rate to products from Canada and Mexico as set forth in the Federal Register Notices below. Energy or energy resources from Canada were only going to be charged an additional tariff duty rate of 10%. That same day, President Trump also signed an Executive Order to add an additional 10% tariff duty rate for products from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Hong Kong as set forth in the Federal Register Notice below. All additional duty rates were set to go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on February 4, 2025. https://lnkd.in/gg6CrVcf

Starting November 15, 2024, the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) will begin real-time monitoring of the inventory control software of IMMEX companies that also have VAT Certification registration.
