Yesterday the?Law & Economics Center (LEC)?Program on Economics & Privacy?(PEP) hosted a luncheon conversation with Commissioner?Melissa Holyoak?of the?Federal Trade Commission?(FTC). ? James Cooper, PEP Director and professor at?George Mason University - Antonin Scalia Law School, sat down with the Commissioner and discussed the limits and proper applications of the FTC’s unfairness authority in a variety of situations, including AI and privacy. One highlight of the conversation included the ongoing importance of the role of economics in consumer protection work at the FTC. ?
