“Won’t you celebrate with us: how we are Black everything, and originating ions ago, though most folk call us new. Won’t you celebrate our beauty, our blackness, our bravery, how we decorate ourselves in garments for the gods and for the gworls, and for those who need to see trans and gender-diverse bodies owning how divine we be. Come on, celebrate with us, how despite efforts to capture and contain, beat us down and dispose of our bodies, we smile with all teeth and trudge alongside one another in the trenches. Come celebrate the alchemy of our existence, how we shapeshift the molds that our spirits are too enormous to exist within. Come meet with us, at the frontlines of revolution, of legislation to get us free, of advocating affordable housing, healthcare, and racial equity. Come celebrate with us, see us, cheers to us: we who never die, we who always rise, we Black trans lives. Won’t you celebrate with us, hear our voice and heed the tales: of how everyday, something has tried to kill us…and failed." -Bobbi?Kindred, Interim Communications Manager, LRP #TransDayofVisibility

关于我们
Lavender Rights Project elevates the power, autonomy, and leadership of the Black intersex & gender diverse community through intersectional legal and social services. We utilize the law as an organizing principle to affirm our civil rights and self-determination. Our organization disrupts oppressive systems that target Black gender diverse and intersex communities of color and lead to disproportionate levels of poverty, housing disparities, and gender-based violence, especially among Black and Indigenous people.

At Lavender Rights Project, we are dedicated to creating meaningful change in our community. Here’s what we’ve accomplished together since May 2022: Provided free, affirming BIPOC-led legal aid to 103 Black and Indigenous clients. Supported Black trans families with $100,000 in mutual aid. Co-led the diversion of $16 million from King County Jail into Black-led housing initiatives across Seattle. Successfully advocated for $2 million in capacity funding for trans youth in WA State's biennial budget. Advocated for the protection of Black Trans Women in King County Domestic Violence Movements. Collaborated with Rep. Pramila Jayapal and community leaders to develop the National Transgender Bill of Rights. Disrupted carceral pipelines harming trans people of color in Washington State. Together, we are forging a path toward justice and equality. Thank you for being part of this vital work! ??? #LavenderRightsProject #TransRights #BlackTransLivesMatter #MutualAid #TogetherWeRise #EquityForAll

LRP Statement on recent Nature Study: Anti-trans State Laws Increased Suicide Attempts by 72% It is incredibly disheartening to understand that denying individuals the freedom to pursue their full identities equates to such hopelessness that suicide feels like their only alternative. Facts matter, and the facts are clear - legislative efforts that disrupt the trajectory of trans people living whole and authentic lives are deadly. And yet, hate and lies are still greater motivators for far too many politicians than the wellness and beauty of some portion of their constituency. Lavender Rights Project is committed to confronting discriminatory policies in Washington and around the country through our work, through our partnerships, and by living lives that serve as a beacon to every vulnerable trans person everywhere. https://loom.ly/4LPPifY
