Congratulations to our very own?Los Angeles Unified School District CTE teachers, Jolly Rodriguez (Carson High School) and Lester Vasquez (Nightingale Middle School) for being named Outstanding Educators at the Soundtrap Beat Battle!?

The?Van Nuys CTE Automotive Repair career pathway hosted a special guest, author Darryl Holter, who co-wrote the book Driving Force. The book tells the story of the car industry and culture in Los Angeles from 1900-1930. It also highlights LA’s nationwide influence on the auto industry and the pivotal role women played. Many industry partners also attended including?Galpin Motors Ford?awarded CTE teacher Joe Agruso’s program with a new Ford Explorer in recognition of our program’s accomplishments. The event was led and organized by Van Nuys’?SkillsUSA?students.?

This week, eight?Foshay Learning Center?ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) career pathway students visited?LAUSD?Headquarters to start a four-week internship with LAUSD’s ITS (Information Technology Services) department in partnership with the CTE-Linked Learning Department. The students will not only be paid for their work, but they will also receive support and mentoring from ITS staff and learn about different careers in IT.?

Students from?Gardena High School's Linked Learning Engineering Pathways kicked off the spring semester with an unforgettable field trip to?NASA JPL, where students explored the cutting edge of space exploration. Highlights included: -A fascinating presentation, “Journey to the Planets and Beyond,” showcasing JPL’s groundbreaking missions. -Visits to the Space Flight Operations Facility and Spacecraft Assembly Facility—where the magic of space travel begins! -Learning all about the iconic rovers exploring Mars and beyond. -Students seeing themselves in infrared light.

Behind the scenes: This past week Superintendent Alberto Carvalho visited the?Banning High School?CTE culinary pathway?as part of?Los Angeles Unified School District's Thanksgiving message. The students, led by CTE teacher Chef Sal Avila, prepared a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings for Mr. Carvalho’s visit.

Los Angeles Unified School District #CTE?teachers in AME Design, Visual and Media Arts pathways gathered at?Los Angeles Trade Technical College?for a CTE Pathway Connect event. CTE Pathway Connect events give teachers, partners, and administrators a full day of networking, equipment demonstration and sharing of best practices. Teachers were able to connect with partners such as?Sony Electronics,?Study Smart Tutors?and?Music Forward Foundation.

Students from 25 Los Angeles Unified School District?high schools enrolled in?#CTE?#LinkedLearning?programs participated in?#LAX?Aviation and Career Day.?#LAXACD2024?
