New analysis from the Actuarial Research Corporation sheds light on why #Congress needs to act now and protect patients from higher costs for routine care. Without Congressional action on site-neutral payments, the #Medicare payment differential between hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) and a physician’s office will continue to widen, creating stronger financial incentives to consolidate. Prior to joining AV, Shaffer was an associate attorney at Wilkinson Stekloff LLP and Elsberg Baker & Maruri PLLC, working on complex commercial litigation and civil trials. With support from Arnold Ventures, we’re excited to announce a new opportunity for US-based College and University Fund member universities to incubate funded research and evaluation collaborations with state and local government partners. Research partnerships between universities and state and local governments can help communities adopt more effective ways of delivering critically important public goods/services. Although funding is often available for these partnerships, they can be challenging to incubate. Our Policy Innovation Days initiative provides funds/support for US-based SSRC member universities and state and local government partners to co-host convenings connecting campus-based researchers with agencies seeking research and evaluation support. We’ll also provide post-convening support for proposals to fund research and evaluation partnerships that emerge from Policy Innovation Days.
