From diving into real-world scenarios to engaging in interactive activities tailored to their unique challenges, this team embraced the concepts with enthusiasm and commitment to growth. Rotate between leadership, psychology, and innovation topics outside your industry. At the end of the day, write down one win (What went well?) and one lesson (What could have gone better?). Sherpas, a community native to the mountainous regions of Nepal, weren't originally mountain climbers. They lived in the Himalayas, farming and herding, never expecting their skills and resilience to lead them to the peaks of the world’s highest mountains. Then, as explorers and climbers sought to summit Mount Everest, they turned to the Sherpas for their unmatched knowledge of the terrain. Gradually, Sherpas became the go-to guides, helping people achieve what once seemed impossible. They became leaders — unexpectedly — by leveraging their unique strengths, navigating risks, and showing others the way. Like the Sherpas, many of us step into leadership by chance. You might start as a supportive team member, only to find yourself in a role where others look to you for direction. This journey into leadership doesn’t always come with preparation or training. You also don’t have to have a formal title to make an impact. Real leadership is about stepping up and showing up for those who need you.
