Keynote speaker Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart shared a powerful message about being courageous leaders and loving our students to success. ?? He proposes: "We must rebuild ourselves around a culture of caring that makes "love" structural, intentional, innovative, effective, and real. Loving students to success starts with listening to them." At LatinxEd, we deeply align with this ethic of love to inform the work that we do to uplift and nurture Latine leadership across the state. ?? Repping the Department of Counseling at North Carolina A&T University (Aggie Pride!), Maylee’s paper centers on Latine student success and the unique challenges first-gen students face in entering and navigating higher ed.
