Promoting the Advancement of Latinos in the Finance Industry

关于我们

What we do: Educational advancement is a key pillar of Latinos in Finance. We believe that education is the key to our country’s economic competitiveness and the prosperity of all Americans. Latinos in Finance has a wealth of academic, industry, and technical knowledge & expertise. We foster continuous sharing of industry knowledge among our group but also among students and the broader professional Latino community. We believe that group-led education is the most effective way of closing information gaps, empowering professionals in finance, and creating a robust pipeline of future finance Latino leaders. One of our flagship educational events is the annual Finance bootcamp targeting college students and high school seniors. The Finance boot camp is hosted at a local university and led by Latino professionals. LIF workshops provide an overview of sub-industries within finance, interview preparation, and technical training sessions such as financial modeling led by local Latino college professors. These workshops prepare students for future interviews and internship placements. Students leave the event with a strong introduction to finance, industry guides, and a network of Latino mentors and professional contacts. The industry expertise of our group provides a wealth of knowledge for our network. LIF members host regular educational presentations to interested parties where they share their background, speak of their industry & company trajectory, and share their vision on how to partner and further drive opportunities within the world of finance. The industry and academic knowledge within Latinos in Finance impacts our local community. We actively seek opportunities to host seminars on investing, personal investing, and best practices in finance. Many of these educational opportunities for the local community come through our partnerships with local community organizations.

I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as a Summer Analyst at Brown Advisory! I'd like to thank Latinos in Finance for exposing Latin-X students like myself to opportunities like this. Without attending their 16th annual Latinos in Finance Bootcamp, this would not have been possible.

Without the contributions of our non-paid board members and volunteers, we would not be able to continue the invaluable work to elevate our organization and our community. How you can get involved now: 1. Volunteer today; we are in dire need of marketing and social media volunteers - no experience needed. 2. Direct your charitable contributions for end of year to our organization to support our mission and vision of filling the boardroom with Latinos, Latinas and allies - we are at 501(c)(3) so all your contributions are tax deductible. 3. Sign up to be a mentor during our Mentorship cohort sign up in the next few weeks. This will allow you to have a direct impact on a young professionalin your community. https://lnkd.in/gEvhTsc9 https://lnkd.in/d6_fa9Rb

Driven Latina Finance Professional | Bridging Cultures and Making a Difference

A few weeks ago, the Latinos in Finance board gathered for a hybrid strategy session to plan for the year ahead. Our goal: to ensure our events and initiatives continue to serve and uplift our members and community. During this meeting, I had the privilege of presenting awards to two exceptional board members whose contributions have been instrumental to our success: - Kaery Castillo-Ferreira, MBA recipient of the Presidential Award, for her unwavering support, dedication, organizational skills and love for the organization, which have been pivotal in driving us forward. - Erick Vivas, recipient of the Pioneer Progress Award, for his invaluable work in strengthening our infrastructure and Membership initiatives over the past few months. I was also honored and surprised to receive an award as the outgoing President of Latinos in Finance, along with a beautifully crafted sweater to commemorate my time as President—a gift I will cherish and wear proudly for years to come. Thank you to our incredible board and the community for 16 years of support, collaboration, and shared vision. Here’s to continuing to create opportunities and build a stronger future together!
