关于我们
Latino U College Access (LUCA) is a nonprofit organization that transforms lives by making college dreams a reality for first generation college students. LUCA supports high school students from college exploration through college graduation. The organization seeks to advance educational equity by providing college preparatory resources to ensure students fulfill their academic and life potential. LUCA is committed to enhancing the quality and intensity of support low-income Latino students receive to apply, enter, and succeed in college. Partnering with Westchester County school districts, post-secondary institutions, corporations, and community volunteers, LUCA delivers culturally relevant, bilingual, family-centered programming directly to the Latino community. Our Mission: Increase college enrollment and completion among Latino youth who are the first in their family to attend college by providing guidance and access to opportunity through education, advocacy, and collaboration. Our Vision: While talent is universal, opportunity is not. We envision a world where low-income, first-generation college students have equal access to higher education that will open doors to professional positions of influence where they can be representatives of and advocates for the Latino community in spaces where they have not been seen or heard before.

?? Choosing the Right College: Scholars in Action! ?? At this month’s LUCA workshop, our Scholars took a deep dive into their college options, researching and ranking their top choices based on key factors like location, housing, extracurriculars, and academic programs. They explored what truly makes a school the right fit for them—marking off must-haves and tallying up which colleges checked all their boxes! ??? By the end of the session, they had a clearer picture of where they’d thrive the most. Making an informed decision is key, and we’re so proud to see our Scholars taking charge of their futures! #SiSePuede #FirstGen #LUCA #FirstGenSuccess #EmpoweredScholars #CollegeBound

? Padres Charla y Cafecito: Empowering Parents on the College Journey ?? Last Thursday, LUCA hosted an inspiring session where our parents came together to learn how to best support their children on their college journey. Our panel of three incredible LUCA moms—Maria S., Libia A., and Nancy P.—shared their personal stories about the challenges and triumphs of guiding their children, from learning where they would go to navigating the emotional journey of letting go and embracing their new roles as college parents. Nancy P., a proud LUCA mom, shared a heartfelt moment: "Last year, I was sitting there, I think in the corner, scared. I was wondering: What am I going to do? Where is he going? I'm going to miss him! But now I know that what I need to continue giving my son is the confidence that he can do anything. The only thing we should do as parents is give them that confidence, advise them, and tell them: Don’t worry, everything will be fine." It was an empowering conversation that highlighted the strength and resilience of these parents in supporting their children every step of the way. Together, we’re building a community that uplifts our Scholars and their families. #LUCA #FirstGen #CollegeJourney #Familia #SiSePuede #LUCAParents
