关于我们

Latino Outdoors offers free outdoor activities and supports people who are receiving their introduction to nature, creating a welcoming and family-friendly environment with outings that weave together aspects of culture, community, wellness, and connection. Guided by LO’s theory of change, volunteers craft outdoor experiences that emphasize connections between people, place, process, and policy. The goals are to inspire participants’ conservation ethic, encourage their evolving engagement in outdoor recreation, and perhaps most importantly, recognize and celebrate the different ways in which diverse communities already connect with the outdoors. LO believes these outcomes will arise naturally if individuals and communities have an equitable opportunity to play and recreate outdoors.

I've appreciated seeing the founding, growth, and work of Green 2.0, in many ways we've grown up together professionally in the conservation space. Here is a little snippet of how I've thought about the approach I've taken to the jobs I've had (and currently have!)

Searching for a job in the environmental sector ?? ?? ?? ? We asked environmental leaders for their green flags when working in the sector. In Part 2 of this blog series, we explore the reflective questions to ask yourself during the job hunt process. Good luck to anyone applying this season, and don't forget to send this blog to a friend in need! "Words can’t capture everything from this incredibly memorable, hilarious, loving, and chilly weekend! A group of us headed to Lake Placid in the Adirondacks to experience winter camping & sports—for the first time ever for many of us! We danced, learned to cross-country ski (during the day and at night to celebrate the upcoming Worm Moon), snow shoed, cooked warming meals like pozole y sancocho (and attempted some campfire desserts), practiced yoga, built fires, and explored the Village of Lake Placid. The snow blanketed this pristine wilderness region just as we arrived and the sky cleared up at night to show us beautiful constellations and planets in full view! This was truly one of our most memorable campouts to-date and all possible because of the magic brought by each individual person and for the generous hospitality of our amazing partners—un montón de agradecimiento y amor to Adirondack Mountain Club and The Nature Conservancy in NY for helping us create memories we’ll never forget! And, special shout-outs to Kate at TNC & Eliza and Daria from ADK for teaching us how to better explore these great outdoors safely and in community!" Gracias to the team at Latino Outdoors NYC and to their regional partners for organizing this incredible wintertime experience. ???? This is why we do what we do. "I’ve always loved food and cooking, but the recipes I find most uplifting are those that nourish my body and spirit. This usually means nostalgic and delicious Colombian recipes that my parents and grandma made me as a kid. What makes them even better is sharing them with friends y familia outdoors." LO's Luisa Vargas shares her recipe for holding on to her Colombian roots. Read her full Yo Cuento blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gRbUkW8r

“What happens if we survive all this chaos?” OUTLIER: Common is a documentary film that follows three Latina snow athletes as they navigate life in remote mountains alongside the unpredictable forces of Mother Nature. Join Dr. Christina “Nina” Aragon, Vanessa Chavarriaga Posada, and Dani Reyes-Acosta as they seek new horizons in the mountains and their personal lives, their sisterhood guiding exploration of the mind, heart, body, and soul. OUTLIER: Common is more than a film: it's a movement. And today, we’re proud to share the first look at the story that’s been two years in the making. Houston Audubon was pleased to participate in Advocacy Day in Austin - a powerful opportunity for organizations to meet Texas district senators and representatives at the Capitol and discuss issues related to their mission. Along with Texas Audubon and other partners, we met with key legislators to discuss pressing coastal and urban environmental issues, advocating for policies that protect Texas's natural heritage.
