Onto Dia de los Muertos festivities . Although it can be a sad time of rememberance it can also be a time to celebrate the life of your loved ones no longer with us. A previous post of mine details the meaning of this day in our culture if you would like to learn more. On this weekend I was able to attend both the Latino Educational Training Institute Gala and also the WAGRO Foundation Dia de los Muertos event at the Lynnwood Event Center . What an honor and a blessing to introduce myself to my people. I've never been more comfortable in a room. I wasn't prepared to speak, but when asked, my little Mexican butt obliged and the words just came out in Spanish .. like butter... and with so much PRIDE. Thank you Julieta Altamirano-Crosby , I will remember and cherish that moment forever. Thank you Rosario Reyes also for a lovely night out celebrating your organization, their hard work, and your anniversary. Congrats ??????. Below are a few photos from both events.

What an incredible night at LETI’s 2024 Legacy of Leadership: 25th Anniversary Gala! ?? This year’s event was extra special—a beautifully coordinated Día de los Muertos-themed celebration ????? that honored Latino culture and LETI’s 25 years of making a difference in our community. From the vibrant decor to the live music and heartfelt moments, it was a night to remember. Huge thanks to Lia Matias Matos for her vision and hard work in bringing this event to life—it was truly stunning! I also want to give a big shoutout to the amazing volunteers who helped make everything run so smoothly (including Guillermo in the photo below)!. Your dedication and effort made it possible for us to celebrate Latino Educational Training Institute’s incredible programs like resource navigation, Spanish GED courses, Conversational English classes, and workshops that support Latino families and women in wellness. ?? This gala was particularly meaningful to me because, after helping with outreach for the event, I was promoted to Community Investment Outreach Specialist! ?? I’m so excited to take on this new role, where I’ll be working to support Latino-owned small businesses by connecting them with training and financial resources to help them succeed. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone and to support LETI’s mission. Here’s to honoring our culture and continuing to build a stronger future together! ????
