Together, Advancing Equal Pay for All Women.
关于我们
Globally, despite decades of activism, and dozens of laws on equal pay, women still earn less than 80 cents for every dollar men do according to the United Nations. For women of color the pay gap is larger. We can't wait any longer, we must unite and work together to bring change.

Today is Latina Equal Pay Day! October 3rd marks Latina Equal Pay Day, the day when Latina workers’ earnings finally catch up to what non-Hispanic white men earned last year. ?? Why does this matter? The wage gap affects the financial stability of Latina families, their ability to build wealth, access education, and achieve economic freedom. It’s a powerful reminder that we must work together to create equitable opportunities for all. ???? How can we help? ? Advocate for equal pay policies in your workplace. ? Support Latina-owned businesses and leaders. ? Raise awareness by sharing stories, facts, and resources. Together, we can close the gap and build a future where Latinas are paid their worth. #LatinaEqualPayDay #CloseTheGap #PayEquity #LatinaLeaders #EqualPayForAll **According to sources like the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC), Latinas earn approximately 54-64 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men in the U.S. This figure represents the wage gap based on median annual earnings.

I am incredibly honored to have been selected as one of the two recipients of a $1,000 scholarship to further my education at Saint Mary's College courtesy of Though-You, a nonprofit organization launching their scholarship program for the very first time. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of so many people. My deepest gratitude goes to Latina Professionals? and to my mentor, Rafael Maga?a and his wife Kimberly Bernard-Maga?a for their constant support and guidance.Their belief in my potential has been a source of strength throughout my journey. This scholarship is not just a financial award—it’s a testament to the importance of supporting students and advancing the Latino community. Education is a powerful tool for change, and thanks to this scholarship, I am one step closer to achieving my goals and contributing to the advancement of our community. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in this journey. Together, we are making a difference. Shout out to my best advisor Gabriela Gil for this picture and the gift.

?#LatinaLocalStories A recent study reveals that a majority of Latinas in the U.S. face significant pressures to do housework, maintain beauty standards, and start families, influenced by traditional cultural values from Latin America. Sahana Mukherjee, associate director for the race and ethnicity research team, highlights that 77% of Latinas have recent immigrant connections, adding unique cultural pressures from family while balancing career demands. Younger Latinas face more pressures both at work and at home compared to older generations. Yajaira Rios, a 27-year-old University of Nevada, Reno graduate, shares her struggle to explain to her Mexican parents her decision to delay marriage and children, challenging traditional expectations. ________ Before, my mom earned approximately $3 pesos per hour. I remember that in high school, I asked her for $220 to go to a graduation party. Without hesitation, she gave it to me, and I spent it on the cover charge, beer, and other foolish things. I didn’t realize at the time that those $220 represented 73.33 hours of my mom’s hard work, hours she would never get back. I didn’t see it that way before, but now, at 25 years old, here in the rain and cold, I hope it’s not too late to appreciate everything she did and continues to do for me. Let’s value our mothers, who don’t just give us money but give us hours of their lives so we can live ours. Sometimes we waste that sacrifice without realizing it, until we experience firsthand what it truly means to earn money.
