????Podcast Episode Alert!???? I am thrilled to reshare our podcast episode featuring Eric Schmacker, the CEO of Silver Summit Health Plan. In this engaging conversation, we dive deep into the challenges and triumphs of leading a healthcare organization in Las Vegas, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are three key takeaways that stood out to me: 1. The Importance of Community Connection: Eric emphasized the critical role that community engagement plays in healthcare. Silver Summit Health Plan is not just about providing insurance; it's about transforming lives. Their commitment to understanding the needs of their members and investing in local organizations demonstrates how healthcare can be a collaborative effort. Eric shared how they have allocated $10 million in grants to various community organizations, focusing on initiatives like pediatric care and mental health. This kind of investment is essential for creating a healthier community. 2. Navigating the Complexities of Care Coordination: One of the significant challenges in healthcare today is the complexity of care coordination. Eric highlighted the need for care navigators and community health workers to assist members in accessing the care they need. With many individuals postponing care during the pandemic, the focus on preventive measures and wellness is more crucial than ever. Silver Summit is actively working to ensure that their members are not only receiving the necessary medical attention but are also connected to community resources that address social determinants of health. 3: Leadership Lessons from the Military Eric's background as a military leader has profoundly shaped his approach to healthcare leadership. He shared valuable insights on the importance of staying calm under pressure and maintaining a clear focus on the mission. Just as a pilot must continuously scan their environment and make adjustments, healthcare leaders must be adaptable and responsive to the ever-changing landscape of the industry. This mindset fosters a culture of teamwork and commitment to improving the quality of care for all members. I encourage you to listen to this episode to gain further insights into the healthcare landscape in Las Vegas and the innovative approaches being taken by Silver Summit Health Plan. Eric's passion for making a positive impact in the community is truly inspiring! ???Listen to the episode https://lnkd.in/g7v_vKAu! #HealthcareLeadership #CommunityEngagement #CareCoordination #Podcast #SilverSummitHealthPlan #LeadershipLessons #HEALSPod

????New Podcast Episode Alert!???? I'm excited to share our latest episode of the HEALS Pod, featuring Brian Hibbetts, a dedicated public servant and current member of the Nevada State Assembly representing District 13. In this episode, we dive deep into Brian's journey from a 27-year career with Metro to his unexpected foray into politics. Here are three key takeaways that stood out to me: 1. The Importance of Community Engagement: Brian emphasizes the need for active participation in our communities, especially during an election year. He candidly shares his initial reluctance to run for office but ultimately realized that if he wanted to see change, he had to step up. This serves as a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in shaping our communities. Instead of just voicing concerns from the sidelines, we can take action and become part of the solution. 2. Navigating the Complexities of Legislation: One of the most fascinating aspects of our conversation was Brian's insight into the legislative process. He discussed how every bill has unintended consequences and the importance of understanding the nuances of legislation. For instance, he shared a story about a bill that allowed state employees to collectively bargain, which led to the realization that not all groups were represented fairly. This highlights the need for thorough examination and collaboration in policymaking to ensure that all voices are heard. 3. The Value of Lifelong Learning: Brian's journey into politics has been a learning experience, especially as he serves on the Health and Human Services Committee. He acknowledges that he didn't have extensive knowledge in healthcare policy before stepping into this role, but he embraced the opportunity to learn and ask questions. This attitude of curiosity and willingness to grow is essential for anyone looking to make a difference, reminding us that it's never too late to expand our knowledge and skills. I encourage you to listen to this episode for a deeper understanding of Brian's experiences and insights. His story is a testament to the power of community involvement and the impact we can have when we choose to engage actively in the issues that matter to us. ???Listen to the episode today! https://lnkd.in/gEAQ_-HJ #HEALSPod #CommunityEngagement #PublicService #Legislation #LifelongLearning #NevadaPolitics Diego Trujillo

??New Episode Alert: The HEALS Pod with Kathleen Miller??? I'm thrilled to announce the latest episode of The HEALS Pod, where we dive deep into the pressing issue of young homeless mothers and the incredible work being done by Living Grace Homes. In this episode, I had the privilege of speaking with Kathleen Miller, who has dedicated her life to supporting these vulnerable women and their children. Here are three key takeaways from our enlightening conversation: 1. The Reality of Young Homeless Mothers: Many of us may not fully grasp the gravity of homelessness among young mothers. Kathleen shared heart-wrenching stories of young women who find themselves in dire situations, often due to circumstances beyond their control. For instance, one young woman was forced to choose between her pregnancy and a roof over her head. This stark reality highlights the urgent need for supportive services that can provide safe havens for these mothers and their children. 2. The Importance of Comprehensive Support: Living Grace Homes operates on the principle of addressing the holistic needs of young mothers. Kathleen emphasized the "five pillars" of support: legal assistance, medical care, benefits access, education, and emotional support. By focusing on these areas, they empower young women to break the cycle of poverty and dependency, equipping them with the skills and resources necessary to thrive. This approach not only benefits the mothers but also positively impacts their children and the community at large. 3. Community Collaboration is Key: One of the most inspiring aspects of Kathleen's work is her commitment to collaboration. She has built strong partnerships with local healthcare providers, social services, and other nonprofits to ensure that young mothers receive the comprehensive care they need. This collaborative spirit is essential in addressing complex social issues like homelessness and maternal health. It serves as a reminder that we can achieve more together than we can alone. I encourage you to listen to this episode and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by young homeless mothers and the transformative work being done at Living Grace Homes. Together, we can advocate for change and support initiatives that uplift our community. ??
