The Chair: A Sniper’s Secret Weapon In the world of the law enforcement sniper, every advantage counts. While precision, patience, and practice are paramount, one unusual ally has emerged from the shadows: the humble chair. This unexpected piece of furniture has proven to be more than just a place to sit; it’s a versatile tool that enhances shooting positions in ways that might surprise you. We all know stability is crucial. A sniper can use a sturdy chair to create a makeshift shooting platform very quickly, whereby not only enhancing stability, but let’s be honest…comfort too. By resting the rifle on the chair’s backrest, the sniper can reduce body movement, enhancing accuracy. It’s important to note that it is always best to place something soft (like an @armageddongear Game Changer) between your rifle and the hard surfaced back rest. Here are a few different ways to use a chair(s) to create a shooting platform based on your circumstances and/or amount of equipment. 1. ?? Example of staged interior hide. Same set up as in pic #2, just without material draped over. 2. ?? Two chairs, using both top of pack and bag over top of chair. Easy to access items in pack. 3. ?? Two chairs, pack across lap to fill “void,” and rest into for more stability. 4. ?? Two chairs, bag on backrest, sling use for more stability. 5. ?? One chair, bag on backrest, sling use. Sling really helps here because as body falls back it creates counter pressure and steadies rifle. 6. ?? One chair, pack slung “cross body,” bag on backrest. 7. ?? One chair, pack cross body, “slouching” into chair, creating counter pressure against pack, staying low. Could also use sling too. 8. ?? One chair, tripod, hand/weight of arm really just “hanging” at bipod leg. Remember, we might be here awhile. 9. ?? One chair, tripod higher than normal standing for obstacle clearance. 10. ?? One chair, tripod rear stability, bag on backrest. #sniper #snipers #policesnipers #swat #swatsniper #snipertraining #americansniperassociation
