?? A new era for high-intensity laser research is here, and LaserNetUS is thrilled to be part of it! Last week, LaserNetUS Coordinator Chandra Breanne Curry, along with Félicie Albert, LaserNetUS Point of Contact for the Jupiter Laser Facility, and Roger Falcone, Chair of the LaserNetUS Scientific Advisory Board, represented LaserNetUS at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Advanced Technology Lasers for Applications and Science (ATLAS) Facility at Colorado State University’s Foothills Campus! LaserNetUS strongly supports this substantial $150 million investment in advancing high-intensity laser research. As the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary for Science & Innovation Dr. Geraldine Richmond highlighted, this facility is “more than a building—it’s a leap forward for our community, bringing new technical capabilities, training, and career opportunities” that will strengthen the U.S.'s leadership in laser science. Thank you to CSU, Marvel Fusion, and the DOE for your vision and partnership. We’re excited about what this means for the future of LaserNetUS and for the next generation of laser scientists and engineers. ??

“As a top institution recognized both for research and for sustainability, CSU is a fitting home for our new laser facility. We have been a leader in laser research for decades, and our faculty are advancing critical technologies. This new facility will house one of the most powerful lasers in the world and establishes CSU as a nexus for laser fusion research.” – CSU President Amy Parsons ? Yesterday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of our newly named ATLAS Facility (Advanced Technology Lasers for Applications and Science), alongside distinguished speakers, including Geraldine Richmond, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Under Secretary for Science and Innovation, U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, and Marvel Fusion CEO Moritz von der Linden. ? Construction will start this month on the ATLAS Facility located on our Foothills Campus. Set to come online in mid-2026, the facility is the result of 40 years of laser development research at CSU in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fusion Energy Sciences program in the Office of Science and a strategic $150 million public-private partnership with industry leader Marvel Fusion. Research there will include laser-driven fusion as a viable clean energy source. ? Get more information about the new ATLAS Facility: https://col.st/pcYPR
