Throughout March, we're shining a spotlight on our extensive experience in building educational facilities. Since the early 1900s, Larson-Danielson has been a trusted leader in constructing K-12 and higher education spaces. Our diverse portfolio includes everything from ground up construction to renovations like the Ivy Tech Welding Lab in East Chicago. We had the privilege of serving as the Construction Manager as Constructor for a 12,200-square-foot renovation at Ivy Tech Community College in East Chicago, IL. This project involved demolishing the existing welding lab, including the removal of masonry walls, plumbing fixtures, flooring, and ceilings. The transformed space now features two state-of-the-art welding labs with new booths, a virtual welding lab, and a classroom. The redesigned facility was designed to elevate the learning experience with cutting-edge equipment and technology. Students enjoy enhanced safety features and an optimized layout, fostering hands-on training in a modern setting. At Larson-Danielson, we're proud to have been a cornerstone in shaping the educational landscape of Northwest Indiana for decades. With extensive experience in nearly every school system in the region, we understand the unique needs of K-12 education construction. One of our standout projects was completed in 2019 and includes 160,000 sq. ft. of new construction and 130,000 sq. ft. of renovations for the La Porte Community School Corporation. It involved the consolidation of Kesling and Boston Middle Schools into a dynamic educational facility. Now, the fifth and sixth grades reside in Kesling Intermediate School, while the seventh and eighth grades are in La Porte Middle School. These two buildings are seamlessly connected, offering shared spaces that promote collaboration and community. The project also features a new running track and an artificial turf football field, enhancing the school's athletic facilities. In another highlight of our education construction capabilities, we're featuring a recent higher education project: Graham Family Hall at the University of Notre Dame. This four-story men's residence hall includes dormitories on the second, third, and fourth floors, while the first floor houses common support areas and a few dormitory rooms. The building also boasts a ground-level archway that connects the north and south sides, as well as a chapel. We're highlighting our education experience this month. We have been a leading name in constructing educational facilities since the early 1900s. Our exceptional education project portfolio showcases our quality construction services for modern learning environments, and features projects like Handley Elementary School in La Porte. We served as Construction Manager as Advisor for the new Handley Elementary School between 2017 and 2018. The 84,000 sq. ft. building features 65,800 sq. ft. on the first floor and 11,900 sq. ft. on the second floor. The state-of-the-art facility was thoughtfully designed to accommodate the educational needs of a growing community. With modern classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, and updated technology, the new Handley Elementary School fosters a vibrant learning environment for students and educators alike. We took part in last week's steel signing and topping out ceremony for the Raclin Murphy Encore Center, a 20,000-square-foot addition to the beloved Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend. This milestone marks the placement of the final girder in the Encore Center’s structure. With South Bend Mayor James Mueller and other local leaders in attendance, we celebrated the ongoing transformation of this iconic venue.
